Stop talking bullshit and offer some facts - otherwise, don't say anything. Illegal aliens have a higher crime rate than everyone else.
Kick their asses out of here.
Statistics can show anything that you want them to, but I came across this information:
http://www.ailf.org/ipc/special_report/sr_022107.pdf
*Even as the undocumented population has doubled to 12 million since 1994, the violent crime rate in the United States has declined 34.2 percent and the property crime rate has fallen 26.4 percent.
*Immigrants Have Lower Incarceration Rates than Natives - Among men age 18-39 (who comprise the vast majority of the prison population), the 3.5 percent incarceration rate of the native-born in 2000 was 5 times higher than the 0.7 percent incarceration rate of the foreign-born.
*The foreign-born incarceration rate in 2000 was nearly two-and-a-half times less than the 1.7 percent rate for native-born non-Hispanic white men and almost 17 times less than the 11.6 percent rate for native-born black men.
*Foreign-born Mexicans had an incarceration rate of only 0.7 percent in 2000—more than 8 times lower than the 5.9 percent rate of native-born males of Mexican descent. Foreign-born Salvadoran and Guatemalan men had an incarceration rate of 0.5 percent, compared to 3.0 percent of native-born males of Salvadoran and Guatemalan descent.
Granted, these stats cover all immigrants, but at least according to this data, hispanic immigrants (that is of course all we care about when talking about immigration these days) in general have much lower crime rates than those of us born here.

I'm in the middle on this issue... if you commit a felony and are here illegally, then you should be deported... but if you are here illegally, but you work, pay taxes and lead a legal life, then as far as I'm concerned, you can stay.My whole life

nice Indian comment btw
I got a statistic...
the 'illegal immigration' issue is a 100% bullshit...
It's something 100% solvable...
As I've said before...make them "legal", therefore they pay into the system via taxes...and presto! chango! no more issue...
well, one issue with remain...who to hate and blame for the ills of the US...I guess we'll still have tar-or-ists to be 'fraid of...0 -
• In Los Angeles, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide (which total 1,200 to 1,500) target illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) are for illegal aliens.
• A confidential California Department of Justice study reported in 1995 that 60 percent of the 20,000-strong 18th Street Gang in southern California is illegal; police officers say the proportion is actually much greater. The bloody gang collaborates with the Mexican Mafia, the dominant force in California prisons, on complex drug-distribution schemes, extortion, and drive-by assassinations, and commits an assault or robbery every day in L.A. County. The gang has grown dramatically over the last two decades by recruiting recently arrived youngsters, most of them illegal, from Central America and Mexico.
• The leadership of the Columbia Lil’ Cycos gang, which uses murder and racketeering to control the drug market around L.A.’s MacArthur Park, was about 60 percent illegal in 2002, says former assistant U.S. attorney Luis Li. Francisco Martinez, a Mexican Mafia member and an illegal alien, controlled the gang from prison, while serving time for felonious reentry following deportation.
The open borders crowd wants this entire country to look like Los Angeles. All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

sure but its not so cut and dry. do they get criminal background checks? are they working? file citizenship papers? there has to some sort of protocol.
we cant just stamp there hand with "US Citizen" and presto they are legal.
personally I like bush's guest worker program. but since it bush i'm sure you wont bother discussing that.0 -

Good, I work with people like your father. I doubt they ever felt they had a 'right' to this or that. They EARNED what they had, and didn't ask or demand anything from anyone. I bet it makes him sick to his stomach the way certain people who've illegally immigrated here feel entitled to so much.0 -

don't assume..it makes you look like a, well, you get my point...anyhoo..
as for background checks...come on now, how is that going to work...?
if they are working, they pay taxes...if not, they should be treated like anyone not working....(which is another issue altogether)
as for papers, perhaps a protocol can be established...let's say it costs them 250 bucks to do so...that 250 buck times a million is 250 million (or 12 million times 250, your choice)...that could pay for the costs of the system to provide proper papers...
If someone who is not a natural citizen commits a felony...ba-bye...
how's this sound for a start...?0 -
The money spent rounding up and deporting illegals will be mind blowing. There is no way we can pay for the man power to ship out the people already here and pay for our fantabulous war. What we need to do is figure out a way to secure our borders now and spend less time worrying about who is already here.10/31/2000 (****)

huh? a country isn't allowed to have immigration laws?

i'm not saying a country shouldn't be implementing immigration laws, all i am saying is that no country should earn any individual any rights of any kind....This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.0 -

i'm all for freedom. but we need some set of rules for entering this country and living here. 2 reasons to start. taxes and security.0 -

in all fairness though, why would we even have to speak about the fact that he's an ilegal alien? it's all irrelevant to the case....
if he's an alien charge him as an alien but that's all... it's got nothing to do with them killing a kid...This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.0 -

the point is that he shouldnt even be here had immigration laws worked, or tougher border control.
and im not against "illegal" aliens. I want them to have a fair shot at being hard working citizens. and I want them to be here legally.0 -

honestly, that's a lot of words...
if his plan includes a fence...I say no to that...
if his plan holds employers accountable for hiring illegal workers, I yes to that...(I mean real accountability)
If is plan includes a real and reasonable track to becoming legal, I say yes to that...
is there a condensed version somewhere...I'll look, too, but if you had a link to one, I'd be grateful...jlew24asu wrote:I dont know, wont be easy. lets start with name, country, social security # (or whatever it is on other countries), criminal history
