More and more of the songs are starting to catch on for me. I think it is probably going to be like A Crow... where I almost didn't listen to it at all for a month or two then realized how amazing it was.

    1.S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
    2.Morning View
    3.Make Yourself
4.A Crow Left of the Murder
    5.Light Grenades
    6.Fungus Amongus

it is really a toss up between Morning View and Make Yourself, and I must admit I almost put A Crow Left of the Murder number 2...
  • I've only listened to it once but I don't really like it.
    "I am a doughnut." (live - Berlin, Germany - 11/03/96)

"Behave like rock stars - not like the President." (live - Noblesville, IN - 8/17/98)

"Yeah, I was gonna learn to play it (Breath) but somebody slipped me a bottle of viagra and was busy doing something else six times last night" (live - New York, NY - 9/10/98)

    --Ed

I believe the children are our future... unless we stop them now...
  • i've listened to it a couple times through... the more i hear of it the more it grows on me, although some songs seem like filler. it's a decent album, but nothing spectacular.
  • got tickets to the Vancouver concert...row 26....not bad i guess.
i cannot stop the thought.......running in the dark

None really. Just like all the other albums are different. It's a progerssion from ACLOTM.

Obviosly nowhere near as heavy as SCIENCE (for those of you who haven't realised it yet, and there are a LOT of you, Incubus is not going to make another record that sounds like SCIENCE, or any other of their albums), but not really much like morning view either. If you had to liken it to another album, it's most like ACLOTM, but still not much like it.

The only way to really decide is listen yourself. Unless you just like SCIENCE. Then don't bother.

I know. That's me I guess. I have to check out their albums in the hopes of the old energy resurfacing, but I may just have to give it up. too bad they left the promising path they were carving on SCIENCE. Make yourself was decent enough. Morningview had a couple of moments. Perhaps 2 songs on ACLOM, and have been listening a bit to the new one.

They're good musicians, but they dont make that interesting music anymore. It's not shite, it's mostly ok. But not more. So I'm one of those SCIENCE nostalgists, I'm afraid. Gimme Deep Inside or New Skin anytime. SCIENCE is way up on my "classic albums" list. *Sigh* Oh well. I'll leave this to those who like their current direction. To me, they've gone "U2".

    Peace

  • alrighty, i've given the album it's proper due....and it HAS grown on me, has taken longer than any of their previous albums to do so in fact. it seems each album takes longer and longer to grow on me...although this is the first to have not even one song 'grab' me from the get go.

that said, i DO like it. i LOVE anna molly definitely my fave track on the album, look forward to hearing it live. the first 5 - 6 tracks are solid, but i STILL really cannot stand earth to bella just gets on my nerves, so a definite skipped track, no matter how many times i try to listen through. oil and water is ok, and as jams already mentioned, diamonds and coal pretty damn cheesy. now tracks 10 - 11 as strong as the first 6, rogues and especially paper shoes....quite good....pedulous threads is alright, and once again, earth to bella part 2, no better than part 1. :p

so 8 - 9 tracks out of 13 i really like, probably 2 i love....so just leaves 4 or 5 lacking. which is sad for an incubus album for me, i usually love almost all their albums in their entirety, or maybe just 1 - 2 filler songs....but sure i still think it's a good album. :)

as always, i ADORE pasilla's drumming, probably my fave drummer still active today, reminds me of my first musical love, the police, and drummer stewart copeland. so yea....cannot wait to see em live!

    :)
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

i take back my previous post about having to give it a couple months before i listen to it again because i was on a hungover drive to work a few days ago and just realized how amazing this record is. I think paper shoes and diamonds and coal are two of the best tracks on there. really like the rest of the album excluding the earth to bella parts. one final note, I wish quicksand was more of a song rather than an album intro. they could have done something great with that song had it been around the 3 and 1/2, 4 minute mark.

I saw them live and I think that they are better being studio musicians, didn't blow me away but still like the records. They are not a live band like pearl jam is it seems they make music for records.

i would have to agree with you on this one...i saw them at the University of New Hampshire when i was working for a radio station up there at the time and i was not impressed with them live at all....well except for the drum solo that was sick
