But I give the edge to the Robinson's and company.
I was just gonna say the exact same. Love both albums (warpaint and consolers). However, I'm gonna have to give the edge to consolers...carolina drama justifies the winning edge.

Agreed, although sadly it would likely only be my 8th or 9th favorite from 2007. It has been a pretty weak year for music for me. I'm banking on TV on the Radio blasting everything else out of the water next month.
For me, Its still Goldfrapp's 'Seventh Tree'. Not much else has been close imo...

"A consistently good band works all the different elements well. A song has to appeal sentimentally, intellectually, physically, viscerally, and dig deep down into your soul and suck you into it. And after that, of course, it'd be a matter of taste." ~ Kim Thayil from Soundgarden
Holy crap, I said either Evil Urges or Brighter than creation's dark in my first post, but I was forgetting one very important release: Black Crowes WARPAINT baby! Awesome fuckin' album from the second best band playing anywhere in the world today
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
I'm sure I've posted in here already but today I feel like the best of the year is Gunpowder Temple of Heaven by Birchville Cat Motel.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
I sometimes wonder if I'm the only person on this board who doesn't "get" the Raconteurs. Anyway...
You're not.
I also don't rate The White Stripes at all.

It's like... okay, you're a swampy, old-fashioned rock band. But why does it all feel so lumpen and boring?
Anyways, I guess I should add Evil Urges to my earlier suggestions, but it'd be a far better album with maybe three of the middle tracks cut out. I'd say Sec Walkin, Librarian and Look At You should go.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

those 3 are amongst my favorite on the album... librarian especially... great vocals... id say the first 2 or 3 could go though

I second this. LIbrarian especially with those horrid lyrics.
Strange for me to be saying this, but I have to go with In Rainbows...for a band as old as Radiohead is to still be making totally solid albums is extremely rare. Reckoner is the best thing I've heard in a long time....absolutely chilling and beautiful.

I know the physical CD was released 1/1/08, but I think most people generally consider that to be a 2007 release since it was available, in full, in the fall of '07.
If you are considering In Rainbows as an '08 release, then it is far and away my favorite album of '08.

It could be a one song single called "Smokin' From Shootin'" and it would still win. Album and song of the year in my opinion.
