I'd have to say Metallica - Death Magnetic, not necessarily because it was the best, but because it was the most surprising. I don't think anyone was expecting it to be such a good album.
Someone mentoined Oracular Spectacular - MGMT. I agree it's a great album but it was released in 2007. I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us. You should investigate this one. However, everything they released is exceptionally good. Very similar to Pearl Jam, they never disappoint.Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun - W.H. Auden0
