The Verve are so much more than Bittersweet Symphony, I hate that song also btw, but as far as british bands of the 90's go, I would have The Verve probably second only to Radiohead, The Verve's albums and music has a lot of depth to it, it's a shame and a testament of good music going unoticed by the masses that it took them until '97 before making it big.
The first two albums A Storm In Heaven and A Northern Soul are awesome, both blow Urban Hymns out of the water.:)
Top 20 British bands huh? Coldplay you say? Tears for Fears? LMAO.
In no particular order my own favourite ones would be:
Black Sabbath
Radiohead
The Clash
The Specials
King Prawn
The Verve
David Bowie
Cooper Temple Clause
Lightyear
Manic St Preachers (purely for The Holy Bible)
Therapy?
Massive Attack
UK Subs
The Buzzcocks
Nine Black Alps
Stone Roses
Gomez
Sham 69
The Longpigs
The Charlatans
Not trying to say these are the greatest 20 british bands, just the ones I enjoy the most.:)
Honourable mention's for:
Led Zeppelin
Inspiral Carpets
Happy MondaysCan not be arsed with life no more.0 -
Any list without Oasis on it is a useless list. Oasis is the best thing to ever happen in the UK (at least) in the 90's. They've got more #1's than any other bands (except the Beatles?)0

Ummm Westlife, Boyzone, The Spice Girls and Robbie Williams all have more "No 1's" than Oasis, does this make them better? Can not be arsed with life no more.0 -

No, just stating tis all, if Oasis could make music as beautiful and as good as the Verve, I'd probably be able to excuse the arsehole Gallagher's.:)Can not be arsed with life no more.0
