If this Target thing is true, which it sounds like it is. Does anybody think we will get some sort of explanation as to why. I dont shop at Target or any of those chains, I stay true to my beliefs, and if people change then they change including the band. It hurts, it sucks, but it is up to the band. I just hope we can hear why. Just for the record I am not changing!

    Peace

ive been reading alot of things on the net about this band and the rumors of Target and a commercial..blah blah...dont worry moderators no links here, but i want to discuss why the band is taking such a hit for this and the stupid word of "sell out" is being used...didnt the band do similar commercial things with the last two albums? why such the outrage?

who cares, we are getting a new album soon and i think we all need to get over the whole "Pearl Jam took on corporations in the past and look at them now"

hope this doesnt get deleted they are also articles out there of the fan club being "silenced" even holding a discussion about any of this

once again a reminder for everyone DO NOT post any links here just discuss why the band is taking such a hit

I can understand it if they did the Target commercial. What probably happened was that Target approached Cameron about it, and he asked the guys to do it. I believe that they would do it if he asked them to. Now the exclusivity, I just can't see that being true.

I think that PJ only has themselves to blame for the fan "confusion" over their stance on advertisers.

We ARE after all talking about a band who refused to play in an arena until a "Bud Light" sign was covered up. Or Ed bashing Jewel for aligning her song Intuition with a product of the same name... or not performing on Letterman that time unless the whole show was commercial-free (wow, was that overkill) or other similar anti-advertising, anti-corporate ideals.

They're the ones who built themselves up, and were very vocal about it.

I don't mind that Jewel sold her music to Schick (or whoever) but I appreciate what PJ did with their own music, frankly. PJ's music is not the same as Jewel's pop music.

Now PJ wants to make more money, so I believe they HAVE compromised their principals to do so. I noticed at their VA Beach show that Bud Light was PJ's sponsor for the show, and most bands did not have a sponsor, yet PJ did. So it's extremely hard to say that PJ did not do a 1000000% turnaround on a number of things.

Will I still listen and enjoy their music? Of course! But when I hear "green disease", I do laugh inside a bit.

Don't understand all the "sell-out" talk. Have some faith in the boys. If the exclusive rumors are true, I would guess they were able to negotiate things like more evironmentally friendly manufacturing and distribution. And if you don't agree I suggest giving up your 10C # because mine is pretty friggin high.

I thought I read that too, but I don't know what the deal is around here. Shit is getting a little jumpy.
