so NIN and radiohead (similar sized fanbases and popularity) can give away their albums and then charge $50-60 for a ticket to see an entire band?

directed at your "entire band" comment .... I'll bet Thom Yorke solo tickets were just as pricey as Radiohead tickets.

This "it shouldn't cost as much or more to see Ed solo" crap is silly .... it's a very different, very limited event.

I just think it's giving up.. but wilco was on VW, neil young on Kohl's & sonic youth had something to do with starbuck's so everyone who is anybody has so called 'SOULED OUT' to a point. If this is true in anyway I do think it signals Pearl Jam giving up their cause as being 'anti corporation' and a band for it's fans and the people.
I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

  • Ok I have to put my 2 cents in here before this thread gets deleted.

How do you know its a commercial FOR Target?? Did it occur to anyone that maybe this is a PSA type thing WITH Target. Meaning maybe the commercial is for some kind of cause and Target is partnering with PJ or something like that.
Maybe I'm reaching here, but my point is we don't KNOW whats really going on here..so lets refrain from using the term sell-out and getting all bent out of shape until we have all the facts.

I have faith in the band and that this is more that just a "buy our new album at Target" commercial.

The funny thing is that a year ago I never would have even believed this rumor one bit.

But then I went to those PJ shows last summer that were brought to us by Verizon, and now I tend to think these rumors might just be possible.

Those that cannot admit to this being a little bit troubling considering the band's past stances need their head checked. Sure things change, but at what cost. The very thought of this is disturbing to me............... And i am sincerley hoping that it is not true............

I love the band and their music, their values are important too, but to me it is more important that they continue to make new music and record albums. If this is the new music industry and what they have to do to stay available to us then go for it!

How can any fan forget what this band went thru, the extent of that whole ticketmaster BS back in 95.....for christs sakes, they went a shgh as the supreme court!

Just or that and then looking at ticket prices today, makes me feel betrayed

I fucking hate the term 'selling out' or any of it's reincarnations.
What the fuck is this world?
