Bought the new album on an impulse, and while a lot of the choruses are still samey and generic, there are quite a few good songs on it.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

I think it's a brilliant album. I loved AI but this one is a lot better imo.

Saw the tour opener last night in Seattle and Green Day absolutely delivered! Awesome show and worth seeing if they are in your neck of the woods.

I agree with Cropduster's comments. Dookie remains my favorite mainly due to that time of life. This album has some awesome songs that grow on me with each listen. Will be seeing them in 2 weeks and was impressed with their presales and fantastic seats we got thru my son's membership only since 2005. Been kicking it in and out of here since postcards but keep getting lost with each new forum. Not bitching about 10 and know other old timers this has happened. Just sayin GD has fewer club scalpers at shows.

Awesome review. I see them in a couple of weeks, I can't wait. Can't say I read too many reviews that called it a let down.

Agree with most of the comments posted here. have been only a casual fan, but damn it if 21st century isn't a gem of an album. too many good songs to list.

I think it's better as a whole and if I read the words than if I just hear a song here or there. Their music can be so much the same that I have mixed feelings about it. However, I like that they try to make the albums like one long story.

I'd like to see them live because maybe they are better that way. :geek:

Watched them perform last night on SNL. Was not impressed. I thought both songs were pretty dreadful.

I kind of liked American Idiot, but I don't think I feel like wading through "American Idiot 2."

I miss when these guys played three-chord songs about jacking off. They seem so humorless now.

Yeah, well, some bands get famous and suddenly think they got a brain transplant out of that deal that bestowed all this ingenious wisdom to them.

I loved the American Idiot album, but man, if I hear 21 Guns again I am going to take 21 Guns and shoot meself.

Don't get me wrong, I like political punk as much as anyone.
The Clash and The Dead Kennedys were awesome at it, and did it the way it should have been done.

    However...I BELIEVED THEM

    I don't believe Green Day.
This music is not coming from an honest place.
It sounds forced and generic. They're preaching to the choir here with these sentiments.
This change of style is not artistic...It's just nothing more than a lame ass cash grab

I'm happy with growth and all. I encourage it and love it when a band trys something new.
But for Christ Sake...grow honestly and do it with some fucking class.

A good song is a good song (and AI is full of GREAT songs, I don't know anything about this new one other than 21 Guns, which OMGZZZZZZZZZ, shoot me), but.....

The irony of all of this is that the members of Green Day all probably go vote Republican while in the privacy of the voting booth so that they can keep more of their earnings from the huge sales of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown.
