So whats everyones opinion of the album?

I think many people ragged on the band after they became huge with American Idiot, but there was an MTV article the other day that sort of summed it up, American Idiot was sort of a zeitgeist album, describing a moment in history, and it did it well. That album was pretty epic.

The new one, I am only three songs in, but it seems somewhat similar, its 70 minutes long, and seems to be very much another rock opera type thing.

I wonder how the album will fare, and if this album will make Green Day even more prominent in the rock community.

I haven't heard it yet but the Boston Herald gave it an A today in the review. I'll probably pick it up later in the week.

Well I still think American Idiot was brilliant, so if they stayed with that direction, I'm gonna have to check this out.

It's fucking brilliant. I was just a casual fan before American Idiot. But for me, that album was a masterpiece. And 21st Century Breakdown is just as good, if not a bit better. I can't believe these albums are coming from Green Day. Two stellar rock operas in a row.

"American Idiot" is one of the best albums released in the last 5 years. It is great from start to finish. If "21st Century Breakdown" is half as good as "American Idiot" then I will be satisfied. I am holding out on listening to the album until I get the CD on Friday.

I found it slightly boring. A lot of the songs sounded too similar to each other, and it just blended into one massive 69 minute song for me.

Seriously? There are so many different styles on the album. I am not sure how they'd blend together for you. . .

The songs that I am really enjoying right now are East Jesus Nowhere, Peacemaker, Last of the American Girls, ?Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl), and Horseshoes and Handgrenades.

I rushed to JB Hi Fi after work last night to buy it.
Have just put it in to play for the first time, fingers crossed.
Didn't have the chance to play it right away as I would've liked as I wasn't home!

Peacemaker has become my favorite, followed closely by East Jesus Nowhere and !Viva La Gloria!(Little Girl). There aren't any songs in the league of Jesus of Suburbia, but taken as a whole, I think it's a brilliant album.

You can tell Butch Vig produced this one.
I like how it is not too compressed, it is easy on the ear!

Is it just me or is The Static Age very similar to Church on Sunday?
    I still love the song.

Another note...if 21 Guns is released as a single it will be huge!
