Also, is everyone staying at the travelodge? I'd prefer to book a hotel where most people are staying.

i know of a few who are in the Travelodges... either Ancoats or Central...

Central one is literally a 10 minute walk from the venue. 8-)

The ancoats travelodge and the central travelodge are right beside each other and really near the venue. Ancoats is cheaper though. If you want the £19 deal you gotta go a few miles further out :(

Potential mini-Midlands-meet Friday/Saturday... Manchester Travelodge on Sunday night... back to the midlands post-gig on Monday, and then down to London Tuesday morning... was going by car, but debating mini-bus rental... what's this big bus malarky?

[edit] as it stands we may have room for others wishing to join us... [/edit]

Well there is a message going round on facebook that someone is looking into a bus Monday night.

Im definitely going to get one night at Manchester travelodge(ancoats-thanks Neil!)...if I need to stay till the morning I could crash somewhere.

I thought there was a meet up on the sunday?? (Excuse my lack of planning knowledge-haven't been up to date with discussions!)

Just thinking that if the meetup is on the friday or saturday it means people would have to book a room for extra nights, that's why I thought Sunday was the night.

But, i'll go with what's being planned :)

I booked a family room, so I have a spare fold out couch if anyone needs it. Kinda wishing I hadn't booked two nights so quickly now.

Sunday is THE night... a venue hath been chosen and everything... Sian knows about it.. as does Surfy.

it might be on the roll-call thread :?

Friday-Saturday isnt a 'big' thing as i believe most of the UK'ers from the Pit are coming back from Berlin during that time? :?

    Sunday is THE night.

We're gong up to Manchester in the afternoon, meeting a friend then meeting you rabble in the chosen pub (Wetherspoons) for drinkies and disgraceful behaviour.

I think an intimate midlands meet up could be arranged but I was under the impression that the big one was on the Sunday before the gig :?

Don't worry , I'm staying two nights in the Central Travelodge. got them for £60, can't complain really!

By the sounds of it, the train will be both quicker and cheaper than the mini-bus hire, I'm going with that option!

Thanks guys for posting the megabus link, that solves at least partially my problem of how to get a cheap trip from Berlin to Manchester. Now I only need to get a cheap flight from Berlin to London and from London back to the South of Germany 8-)

Ryanair.com is prolly the cheapest place to get a flight from berlin, they fly to East Midlands or Stanstead (which is North London).
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

For beerage on day of gig, especially if suns shining, can't beat shambles square back of arena-there's the Wellington and sinclairs oyster bar to start with, and a big outdoor drinking area. Next to printworks and Harvey nicks, stones throw from men...happy days !!
  • I think an intimate midlands meet up could be arranged but I was under the impression that the big one was on the Sunday before the gig :?

    Bingo!

Haven't actually sorted out the intimate pre-meet-meet-up (in the midlands) officially - Pip and Cato were debating popping up a night or two before going the Manchester, and it sort of evolved... However, you may reserve your usual sofa space for the Saturday if you so wish?

Probably should go ahead and take a booking at that Travelodge for the Sunday night before it's all taken up. No point booking for Monday night, the bus would be going away straight after the show.
115 bucks for half a haircut by a novice? I want my money back!
  • Posted this in the roll call thread but will stick it in here as well

There is a Pearl Jam tribute band playing Manchester Academy 3 may 17th. I've seen them before and they were pretty good. Just a heads up.

they're nowhere near to each other for Man though neither are much further from the venue..and exact same price today...so booked Central which is very slightly closer... £29 for a 3-people room on Sunday (taking the bus after the show for the fun  though might and up going home after we get to London for a few hours sleep)
