i have a reeenk roink, got it real cheap a few years ago...led to the article I did with the fine folks over at TFT
Hi there! I'm addicted to TFT So those copies are just floating around, are they? wow. Little they knew then.

either way, real or not, seems super spendy if the mixes were the same as every other copy of Ten.... i guess collectors really have no limits to which they'll go, hmmm? Happy bidding!
Eddie Vedder solo: 2008 - Boston night 1 & 2 || 2009 - Albany, NY night 1 & 2 || 2011 - Hartford, CT, Boston, MA
I don't get it either...all of us have these songs already.....goodness gracious!
it's like telling someone who plays a gibson les paul that you just got a 1959 gibson les paul.
It's the same guitar, yes, but the value can only really be appreciated by one who truly knows what it is for themselves.
i have to admit... that actually puts it in perspective for me, being a guitar player. most people would prolly scoff at the price of the '59 like we all did over the price of that CDR... thanks for bringing me back down to earth! : )
wait though.... the '59 at least will SOUND amazing and was hand-crafted using superior materials and workmanship.... the CDR is.... just a CDR.

Yeah, being a guitar player also, a horrible analogy...Reeenk Roink is not a '59 LP and a Gibson Custom Shop R9 is not a '59 LP either....
Don't get me wrong....if the Reeenk Roink sounded different or had different, especially rare cuts or version of songs on it, I guess I could see it...I've paid $30 for a PJ cd for just one new version of a track plenty of times...Hell, I even entertained the idea of shelling out $600 for it...but wow.....

No, just saying that to the average person - it's no different except to those that know

Do you, by chance have Superman ears? The average person hears the songs in the way they were recorded....
Dude! Sorry I don't live in Minneapolis anymore...I think we'd be friends.......
So, does it sound any different?
Even if it does I still would not pay that amount of money for it...CRAZY!!!
No it does not sound any different, but with the Beatles butcher cover...does the music sound any different? nope - it's just different artwork....and in reeenk roink, in my case, it's handwritten by the band, and very rare....and only valuable to a collector.
besides, something is only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it.
36 year old addict - I'm trying to follow our conversation, but it's quite messy...i gather you understand a new perspective on the issue?
1. CD purchased in 1992.
2. Original vinyl
3. Basketball vinyl
4. Ten picture disc.
5. All versions included in the SDE
Yeah, I could definately live without Reeenk Roink.

See, I'm with you on that. Reeenk Roink was always something that I thought I'd NEVER in a million years find. (i remember wanting it pre-ebay days)....and I never gave a thought to it, never went "looking" for it per se either.
And somewhere around 2003-2004 I was actually looking for a certain A Perfect Circle vinyl...and found out that some little store in NJ had it in stock, it was about a half hour away from my house.
When I get there I see he has a lot of random memorabilia...so I ask him about any rare PJ stuff...and he hits me saying "I've got a pressing of Ten in my house somewhere, no artwork other than just a handwritten sleeve"
Lo and behold...it was reeenk roink, matched up the matrix numbers and everything....did not spend anything close to $1600 either. Never in a million years thought I'd find one. just dismissed it along with those jack daniels vitalogy botttles and the blue vs.
Not seeking them out, but if I find them, I may pay a few extra dollars....but nothing that would cost the same as a guitar
I recently considered paying north of a dime for a completed Grateful Dead 1991 backstage pass puzzle (if you've seen it, it's pretty sweet), but ultimately decided it was too much for something that would hang on my wall.
My point, its all relative. What's too "expensive" to you, many be totally "worth it" to somebody else....just sayin...
Exactly, I would definately pay a few extra $$ for a Reeenk Roink if I came across one, but nowhere near what this one went for. Also had a inkling a few years back that I couldn't live without a blue VS. But I quickly kicked my own ass and said, "What are you fuckin nuts?" That much $$ for a blue record of a record I already have? I have never thought about getting it again.
Unless I win the lotto!

Its an extremely rare artefact, and the value has been clearly assessed on the open market. Its like saying The Mona Lisa is only worth 10 quid because you could get an artist to do a perfect reproduction for around that, but no its $100mill's worth.
This this was put out by the artists in the same way, by themselves before they were famous, they hand wrote the discs and the sleeves of the other variant. Is it worth $1600?? clearly yes, because people bid that much.
But to confirm the recording is identical to that released except for a few extra seconds between some of the tracks that must have been tidied up before release.
Other than that absolutely the same.
Ib guess all those who don't get this also wouldnt get the blue V's value either? given of course its identical to the normal V's vinyl?
I would be willing to bet that if you owned one of these, your opinion on it would be a little different? :-) Easy to say it is nuts and all this bs about common sense and all, but as it has been stated, people will find this more valuable than others. This is one of the rarest, and most significant pcs of early pj whether you or anyone else gets it or not. The story behind it, what it means and all that go along with it. If I had the $$ I would gladly pay whatever amount it was going for to have in my collection. This to ME is no different than a classic car, a historic baseball or something to that effect. DEF my favorite of EVERYTHING I own.

Hey, we reeenkers need to stick together
just recently someone started a thread of how obscene it was to pay $300 for a promo Poland CD of the new ten!!! Imagine what they would make of this
Hey, "fools and their money..."
I'd try to band together too to keep the 'value' of that CD up.... now, where's that blue sharpie again?
Maybe you're stepping on it bigfoot
nice thinking,
just a word to wise, these were not drawn with sharpies....
and a hint if you would want one, the sleeves reeenks come in can be found almost perfect in the tone Cd...
good luck reproducing the disc though....
oh and final word, this thing is valueless to me, its never leaving my possession. If I could get the band to sign it to Paul and totally ruin its value I wouldnt even think twice.
and I know scott has already got his signed....
