They are to protest the sick amount of government spending. Is that too hard to understand?

Why are they just starting now? The record surplus was left in 2001, then the record spending and increase in the size of gov't started and now we're in a record deficit. Yet, 100 days into the new administration they're putting out the "non-partisan" "impeach obama" signs
  • can anyone explain what exactly it is? why teabags? i don't get it.

    all jokes aside,

The TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Parties mean different things to different people but basically it is a large mass of people who are fed up with the how the past two administrations have been throwing money away. They are non partisan. It was started by a house mom in Washington..not the GOP...the Parties are saying democrat’s suck and republicans suck. People are fed up with how both parties in office and in congresses have been spending money like drunken frat boys in a strip club.

I like many people have seen my 401K go in the shitter the past few months. My pay check has been cut 25% for the next 6 months; I have to reign in my spending. Why doesn’t the government cut there spending... instead the past administrations are handing out millions of dollars to ACORN and bonuses to AIG execs and bailing out failing car companies ect...........

Obama may be cutting taxes now with trillions of dollars in spending some day soon the tax man will commeth for all of us.

One party gave up on there principals the other party gave up on the constitution...time to vote them all out.

FIne you don't like my ACORN statement, how about in my neck of the woods they are going to build a commuter train right next to a brand new highway they currently are doing construction on...or how about this, the governent just had a summit on bed bugs.

But really...this thread is about the Tea Party

It is far from grassroots. It was started by right wing think tanks. It's not cathing on because it is such a huge farce.

Sooooo....you don't think people should ride the train because it is built right next to a highway?

The gov't always has summits on something stupid. This is nothing new.

I can't help but think of the awful things that were said to people who protested six years ago and didn't support the policies of the previous administration.

where were all these people when the bush administration was piling up debt? Just because Obama TALKS about rasing taxes on folks making more that 250,000 a year this automatically translates into the government taking money away from everyone...as far as i recall lowering the capital gains taxes for 8 years did shit and he in fact has just lowered taxes on many middle american families. And this was not just people getting together, This thing was pushed for by conservative think tanks and fox news to push their agenda. Yet Bush did everything right the past 8 years...please.

I'm watching Fox News right now. This shit is RIDICULOUS. They're like a a bunch of children.

All of it instigated by the web of corporate talk show hosts too. What are they up to?

Another philosophy behind these events is the promotion of the Fair Tax, but that naturally gets looked over (and from a ratings standpoint, rightfully so) in favor of the more sensationalistic.

  • I guess you guys like paying more taxes why dont some of you do your research . they are pro testing for lower taxes and smaller govt, from the past 8 years until now and many are for the FAIR TAX. Which would get rid of the IRS and you would only be taxed on what you purchased .You think there were record turn outs for 08, just wait till 2010 :x

I don't know what the fair tax is, but from what it sounds, it means that people get taxed on what they purchase and not by the government which is good in theory. I just don't buy the theory that people's purchases would be proportional to their earnings....

Please tell me what's so ridiculous about wanting lower Taxes and smaller govt ? Liberals never cease to amaze me. All of you are always standing up for dissent and freedom of speech until it's something you disagree with  Now thats what is ridiculous.

I'f I'm not mistaken, didn't the President just sign on on the largest tax cut in the nations history? If smaller government is the problem, why didn't these "patriots" stand up and protest the Bush administration doing the biggest increase in the size of government since the new deal?

Believe me, I'm all for maniacs gathering together and making asses of themselves. It's entertaining.

I'm sorry but it sounds like they are whining about things they don't understand. They're just repeating a lot of the same babble they here on the radio shows that gave them the directions to get to these rallies. I listen to 96.9, the mostly conservative talk station here in Boston quite a bit, and it's been the same old shtick for years... fear-mongering, basically.

There was no reason for you to assume that I don't think they have the right to have these rallies. But talk show hosts keep saying that liberals think this way, so I guess it must be true.

All that said, I have some sympathies with some of the concerns being brought up within all of this rabble. The government is without a doubt over-reaching and irresponsible. But why have a huge rally at the Alamo?? Why confuse the issue? Just to attract anti-immigrant zealots who also think Obama is a socialist?

Honestly, I think the media is just putting on a show for us. Who organized all of this, really?

Glen Beck and Ted Nugent are at the Alamo right now on CNN (repeat from earlier).

If this shit isn't ridiculous, WHAT IS?

The Nuge just said all of these thousands of people showed up because "they are addicted to logic".

not sure if it's biggest tax cut in history, but my household is bringing in an extra 100 bucks a month (based on last months paystubs)...

I'd be willing to bet, many of these teabaggers (he he he  ) had there taxes cut as well....
