Is anyone else afraid the new pj record could be weak?

im never worried...but I have to say I've never been a fan of the self titled album...I was never a big Riot Act fan either, but I would take 1/2 full over any song off the new album...especially in concert!0

I don't mind if they do epic songs or short ones, as long as they are good. When they say they are working on shorter songs, I'd be surprised if they make a whole album of them, it's just not their style. Brendan's return is the most promising news for me. His last album was Yield and that is alongside Vs their best album to date in my view.
I'm not sure how people can determine the mood of the band form Ed doing solo shows. Why will this make the album not important to them. The album could be in the finishing stages, the fact they are putting it out could mean it will just appear like The Raconteurs did with Consolers all of a sudden, the vinyl only for the first few weeks would be cool but unlikely.
The new album could be allot nearer than we think.
I'd like to see them recreate the same release pattern for Vitalogy re-release as they did with the original release, vinyl first then CD a few weeks later, nothing to lose there, it's a re-release so only fans are going to buy it.
I'm not dissing RA, in fact I'm going to give it a good listen and see if my view as changed of it. It's just it hasn't clicked with me yet, Binaural took until a few years ago for me to start to dig that, so who knows.
The only reason why the band did that with Vital/Vinyl release, was bc when they released 10, they werent allowed to issue it on vinyl. As they got tremendous and started to sell millions of albums, they had sony by the balls during Vital. So they released the vinyl version 2 weeks before the CD release. You will not see that again. Do you guys remem ST? they didnt release the vinyl till 2 months AFTER the CD release!
As far as "how good" the new album will be, its NEVER going to be like anything prior to NO CODE. I know alot of you on hear like YIELD, but to me that was one of their weakest releases! it has not aged well at all! VS/VITAL were their best albums (if any of you on here were fans back then when those albs were first released will probably agree with me)
I know why they did it I remember buying Vitalogy on vinyl when it first came out, I just thought it would be cool to replicate that again for the re-release.
The new album will probably take months to surface on vinyl although Sony surprised me with getting Ten out simultaneously last month. I will be interested to see how they handle releasing this over seas, I don't wnat to wait for it to come to my door days after release. They will need to set up something to get in stores day of release.
I disagree I find Vs to still sounds fresh as it did, as I said in another post I knew someone would dislike Yield and they appeared. I guess a band who have changed their sound quite significantly will have those who love some albums and others who won't get it at all. I think all their albums have been good with a varying degree of of how good amongst them. I'm an original fan so I was their from the beginning pretty much and Vs up to Yield will always be special, although the Ten redux has certainly made me appreciate that album allot more.
RA just happens to be the album I dig the least but over time I may come to get it more.
I watched Imagine in Cornice yesterday, can't say I gave much attention when I bought it when it had been first released but I found it really enjoyable.
The band seem to be really into performing a real interesting and somewhat document of the tour as opposed to the traditional route, which I think the Band was trying to avoid. That bonus with MMJ with Eddie doing a Quick One is incredible. I watched my Who classic albums Who's Next DVD straight after it got me in the mood so much.0 -
