And think how you will feel when 10C has thousands of these left over in the warehouse and they put them on sale. That would/could start some real bitching. All of a sudden the super duper deluxe is only $99, that might start a riot.
I'm pretty sure they wont do that!!!
I think the initial order sold out, so the leftover stock will only be from the second batch
mine have arrived - charged me £32 ish for each one. Boxset for me cost £179 each. or £540 for three (thankfully not all for me) so i could have 5 and the legacy and the delux ordinary from HMV.co.uk all for the same price.
So after calculation, I paid 200 euros for something I could get next week for 108 euros. Yikes ...
That's what happens when you get over-excited by some 10c news. Next time, I'll think twice before ordering something from 10c.
well like many people, i ordered mine for $140 which included shipping & taxes (within US obviously). sure you could get yours at best buy or another local store for $125, but after they tack on 7-8% sales tax, you are almost talking the $140 that was paid through the 10C.
me... i'd rather give my $$ to 10C than best buy.
i feel for our international friends... seems like they certainty got the screw. hopefully they make it up to you guys with a massive european tour

well that would be just the ticket.....would you mind putting that to the tenclub as an idea for us!!!!

Posters are larger than this package and they get sent through the usual route, packages that include vinyl and other items (similar size) in the past have been sent through the usual route, and we didn't know the actual weight until we had the UPS tracking info.
Seriously, every time you order something from 10c do you ask about how it's going to be delivered??
I live in the US so no, I don't ask how something will be delivered. There are only 3 options anyway.
I feel bad that people are getting blindsided BUT I dont' understand how people didn't know about the UPS shipping charges. I mean... have you never had this happen to you before? You didn't know such a charge existed? I'm kinda thinking that if I knew there might be a chance for this to happen, I would verify before purchasing. Like..."gee, if they ship this UPS I'm fucked. Maybe I should check it out"...

Nope, never had anything shipped UPS, didn't even consider it. The thought didn't even enter my head they would do anything different to anything else I have ever ordered in the past. Whenever I order from abroad I always check shipping information for charges etc. If it had been stated UPS was going to be used I would probably have looked into it, but it wasn't so the thought didn't even enter my head. Customs charges, sure - but nothing else. Why is it so difficult to understand people didn't even consider this, when they've never had to consider it in the past??
I don't want to get drawn into a long argument going over the same points, but it's obviously something the vast majority of people weren't expecting.
Consider this analogy to take it to an extreme example, it's like you preordering cinema tickets and paying online with an expected booking fee - however when you turn up to the cinema they have changed their seating policy and you have to pay an additional 'x' amount of dollars to actually be allowed into the building even though there was never any indication this would be the case on the website when you ordered. Wouldn't you be ever so slightly peeved?

I think that's very much in order
I like that idea as well. And the 10c server better be strong enough not to crash when I try to get tickets
Well i got mine today, wasn't expecting it to be signed from what i'd been reading on this forum and it wasnt, and a £30.13 customs charge. I order a few things from America now and again and from what the guys at the UK post office told me 1 in 5 of any merchandise you order from the US is given a customs charge, so 4 out of 5 you get lucky and your not gonna pay any customs, its a lottery whether you get charged basically. So when i ordered the boxset, which to be honest i ordered because their might be a chance it was signed, i was hoping to be lucky with the customs charge but if i'd have known that it was being sent with UPS which is 100% customs charge and the boxset was also available to buy in UK stores and there was a 1 in a million chance it was getting signed which is what seems to have happened, i wouldnt have bought from the 10 club. I dont know if its my fault for not reading when i ordered about the UPS shipping or whether ten club were a bit vague or whatever but i'm not a happy bunny today.
I just have to comment on people saying they bought the SDE from 10c so the money would go directly to PJ. Are you serious? PJ gets the same cut, no matter where it sells. It's probably a nice selling point for 10c, though.
I wonder how much the signed ones are gonna cost. They will surely put a higher declared value on those, no?

UPS was never mentioned by the 10c when ordering was made. I'm sure all of us outside of the US have ordered from 10c before, and had the merchandise delivered through the usual mail. Also, when you are charged $50 up front, the possibility of having an extra $60 charged for shipping doesn't even enter your head. To put it in perspective, it seems that most Euro customers are paying $110 or more for shipping and customs. That's just $30 less than the actual cost of the SDE.
When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
Chasing something in the night.
I got mine today and had to pay € 41,72! First i was disgruntled but as many of us i ordered from 10c hoping to get a signed one...but it's not!

Well, you can add me to the list of annoyed European fans. I coughed up £30 in charges which, on top of the original postage charge, has left me feeling pretty pissed off. Also, I originally thought this Super Deluxe package wasn't going to be available in the shops (my own stupidity I guess), I definitely would have just waited and saved the £60+ if I had known that. My own excitement got the better of me I guess.
I am the "bastard" who wrote that letter. I am not going to spend my time here trying to justify myself. 10C and UPS have justified it by sending out their mea culpa email. So if they thought, like a couple of guys on this board think, that people like me didn't have a valid complaint, they wouldn't have sent out the email. I don't care if a couple of people on here agree with me or not. It's what 10C thinks and how they act upon the problem that matters to me. Nothing else.
I just want to tell Mr. pdalowsky that I did not disrespect you or anybody else on this board and therefore expect to not be disrespected as well. Not agreeing with me is one thing. Calling me a bastard is another.
But if the end result of your exposure of my letter (which, btw, was only publicly shared by me with the Portuguese Pearljammers forum) resulted in actually helping 10C and UPS to send out that mea culpa email, well... I guess I actually have to end up thanking you. I'd even pay you a pint of beer with the refund of part of the extra $127 I had to pay UPS.
Hey Ricardo, please be assured that me and you are thinking salong very similar lines. i only posted your story to share it here as many people were having deliveries today. i got whacked too, x 2. like yourself I also feel a little pissed off.
I actually thought your letter was very appropriate,
Oh I see your point now.....when i said what a bastard i wasnt referrin to you, iots an english expression as to the situation i found myself in expecting to have massive charges imposed on me too. I was not for one moment calling you a bastard....my sincere apologies for the confusion there. I too have written to tne club earlier today expressing my disapproval

I think most people here agree with you, to a point, but a few of the comments in the letter are off base.
They never presented it as 10c only. If it's exclusive or limited they point it out. Check the volcom shirt or the Crashious Stickman hoodie out.
I can't really disagree with the rest of your letter, though being a slightly more informed consumer (ie. waitin a few weeks to see if it popped up elsewhere, makin sure there would be no extra import fees's) would have definitely given you several other options.
If 10c knew about all the extra charges, then that is crappy. If they didn't know, then that is just as bad.

Apologies accepted If I did indeed misunderstand your phrase, then I also apologise. It has been a pretty intense 24 hours for me, PJ wise. And being publicly exposed here without my consent was something that I did not appreciate. But we do all share the same love after all and we are part of what is supposed to be a big happy family. Anyway, Exclusive or not, UPS or otherwise, I just want me and my fellow 10C members to be (at least partially) refunded for what was unfair costs. Charging me with an extra 30 bucks, I can accept. But $127 is... how can say I this... a bit too much
No hard feelings.
DewieCox, like I originally said, I'm not going to justify myself. I wrote what I thought and I acted accordingly to what I believed was true at the time of purchase (ie that it was exclusive). Is my letter perfect? Far from it. Did it help me release the pressure and anger I felt yesterday? You bet. Did it help in getting UPS to apologize? I sure hope so. End of story. I just want to be able to finally enjoy the Super Deluxe and forget about the rest. I truly do.

Remember next time, unless they say it's limited or exclusive, it's probably not.
Enjoy the HELL out the SDE. Gotta make it worth the dough somehow, right?
i assure you it was a misunderstanding... i shared your post because it had a great sentiment in it and as a warning to others of what to expect in taking delivery today... again sorry for doing so without your consent
this whole thing is a shambles, and although i'm usually the first to stick up for pj and the 10c, i cant find the backing on this one, they have let us down in my opnion. still there are always the small % who see 10c as thier best friend and not a very profitable byusiness and refuse to acknowledge them ever being in the wrong
