At what point have you all tried to cancel the Super deluxe set from Ten Club? I mailed them yesterday but no answer during the night here in Europe and day in the US. The package was in Germany yesterday and I live in Finland so UPS could just take it back to Ten Club. Wouldn't they want to cancel it before it was shipped?
Unless I'm reading your post wrong, I'm thinking that if your package was in Germany yesterday (though admittedly not yet in Finland), from 10C's point of view it had already been shipped.

This is reallly ridiculous!! On ebay you can get the damned thing for 139€ !
Wasn´t lucky enough to get a signed one ...that would have been worth the ectra 110$ that i paid fpr shipping and Tax!
I already ordered a few times from ten club and i never had to pay taxes so far ...
    Does anybody know, why now?

i had to pay customs once when 10c order was 100$. if your order has a certain value, you have to pay taxes. but sometimes you are lucky and the guys at customs don´t look at it. could you pay by ec or credit card or does it have to be cash?

This is true. In the UK I think if the customs label states value over about £35 you have to pay a customs charge. Last time I bought a hoodie and T shirt from the 10C I had to pay an extra £10 I think. The nice guy at the post office told me, if I order a lot of stuff from the same people to email them and ask them to put a low or nil value on the customs label for future orders.......I did contact the 10C to ask them but didn't get a response......I suppose technically it would be breaking the law to do this??

I ended up ordering my set from Amazon in the end - only because I thought it would be the usual 6-8 week wait for it from 10C....its a shame its turned out like this - I hope at least some of you get a signed copy :(

I have just been on the phone to UPS, and they told me how the charges are added.
    £11 for admin fee.
    £21.25 for VAT.

When I asked how VAT can be that much on an item only worth $100 so it should be $15 I was told that because 10c didn't state how much we paid for shipping customs make the amount up and have figured it out to be £64!!!

I have asked for them to send me a claim for so I can prove to them that that is not the case and can get some of the money refunded.

I was also told that 10c new how much we would be charged as they are informed when sorting the shipping out and by rights they should have had to made us aware of this but they chose not to.

Well it says mine has been delivered so I'm guessing some kind person at my house handed over the cash.

That's unreal that they would calculate the shipping at that much surfy. Surely they could have contacted 10c for the amount rather than guess at it. I'd allowed for VAT on the amount of the boxset and read in the Canada thread that expedited meant no brokerage fees so wasn't expected to get stung for that much.

I had thought about cancelling my order when I saw what it was being sold for on Amazon but decided not to bother ... regretting it a little now

I was thinking of doing that too.

Was thinking though that the only way I can prove I was overcharged for shipping is to show my order history from here which well then show 10c didn't put the true value as the declared value so not sure what other way you could show that shipping wasn't £64 but closer to £35 :? ... which would get me back £5???

May be more hassle than it's worth. Just annoying to know if 10c had told them the shipping cost we could have saved a few ££ and also the £11 brokerage is

I just rang my brother, who received the package this morning at my family home (Dublin). He paid E45 on delivery. That makes a total of 250 US dollars, or 185 Euro. I'm furious to be honest. It has cost 80 euro for shipping the thing. I don't usually post here, just read posts and keep up that way. I don't recall ever seeing in 10c announcements or even anyone's posts that the shipping would be this outrageous.

Just wondering if any of my fellow Irish or European friends had to pay extra fees?
AWWWWthats bullshit my friend, why so much? yeah i,m expecting to pay 10-15 quid VAT but after what us euro,s paid for shipping surely covers that side of it?
10c put the value of it at 100 usd i,ve read so 15% on that is nowhere near 45euro,am i missing something  ,where is strummers she might know more

Yeah there was a rumour that as it was 'expidited' the 'handling fee' would be paid for you, but it seems that's not the case. People in Uk are paying about an extra £30-£35 and some people in Europe up to an extra 96 Euros - not good!

Just pointing something else out. US shipping was free when pre-ordered before 1st March. International was $50. Looking now international is still $50, and US is $15. If 10c were subsidising US shipping before1st March, but couldn't justify the cost of subsidising International shipping, couldn't they have still knocked off the difference ($15) up to 1st March making everyone have a similar discount, Making International shipping $35?

    Just a thought....

How the hell do you end up paying customs on shipping charges?? Surely you should only have to pay for goods!?! And presuming it would cost £64 is just plain ridiculous on the part of customs! In proving you paid less for shipping, you're also going to prove you paid more for the actual box set too......

This really pisses me off. Why did not send it the way they used to? Why choose UPS without letting us know?
If I end up paying the fees, I expect a clear statement from the 10c and some kind of compensation.

:) Well, Mine has just arrived at work in Leeds and the UPS guy was erm quite funny to be honest - "Hiya I'm your local UPS rip-off man" - lol ... 10c had marked on front the Value of 100.00 and he explained that if they hadnt have done this and just marked nil / gift there would have been NO CHARGES! However the guy walks away with £30.13 (£11 Brokerage Surcharge [Admin costs] and 19.13 for Freight Import).

I don't think i can get away with opening it in here and playing Redux on CD or Unplugged! so i'll have to wait till i get home and then .................. Let the games begin!

Yep, same here, £31 extra. Already paid more than the £99 that I could of got it for but went with it for the chance of getting a signed one.........how naive, should have known they'd only sign like 10!!!! And then having read the other threads it seems the signed ones have been held back, therefore there is not even the excitement/anticipation of that!

I doubt ten club will do anything about compensating this, although maybe they could offer us our next years membership for free...........or send us all an autographed holiday single!!!

As said before, it is really going to make me think about ordering direct from 10C again. The shipping is pretty OTT on everything as it is before this, coupled with everything else PJ that I have to buy saving on shipping to this extent would have been a big help!

If I haven't made 10 different posts in 10 different threads (between here, RM and facebook)telling people in Europe that they'd likely end up with custom charges on top of the extra postage
As soon as the UK prices were announced I even told the Ozies to buy here (they don't pay import tax but shipping was cheaper).

And the custom tax is based on declared value PLUS postage. (don't blame 10c or UPS for that, that's the LAW)
So $150 if 10c declared $100 (there's no way they could get away with underdeclaring it under the allowance, which is $30 at best depending the exchange rate taken, considering the size. It would have only raised suspicions and triggered delays when customs opened stuff to check, request invoices, plus possible fines. plus it's illegal..Amazon got trashed in the early days of DVDs for doing it).
To the guys that said that UPS estimated the postage at £60, you could argue back with the invoice, but since 10c underdeclared the value anyway, it'd end up the same (VAT on $190).

I'm waiting to receive, probably tomorrow, my HMV UK ordered one: £99.99 (ie $144..not even out of my bank account yet) delivered
I'm sure it'll sound just as good.
