Have to pay another €45 when the deluxe arrived? The UPS guy just came and gave me the bill. I just wanted the package I gave it to him. He didnt have the right change and just said "that's all I have". It's really put a dampner on the whole thing.......till I listen to it. Just wondering if any of my fellow Irish or European friends had to pay extra fees?

This land is mine, this land is free, I'll do what I want but irresponsibly

I love pearl jam, but if this is the case, Ten club is really in my bad book.

If this is true it is absolute Bullshit.

I won't be ordering from 10C again if I can buy the same product in stores.
    Disgraceful.

To the OP, sorry to hear about the extra $$$. I would definitely check with your local tax authority and UPS to see if there was some kind of an error. I know that in Canada, we still had to pay GST and provincial sales tax (if applicable) on the total.

  • I'm sorry, what? €45? I ordered two (one is a present for someone), does this mean I'll have to pay €90? There was no indication of this at any point in the buying process and I can't afford €90. As in, I physically do not have that money. Why am I only being told about this now, when it's on its way to my house? I'm genuinely worried about this because I don't have €45...let only €90 (I'm a student, and not working at the moment).

if customs have taken a closer look at this package, you sure will have to pay customs charges. and these depend on the value (i think even including shipping costs) of the item. at the moment i´m sitting at home waiting for ups ti come by. does anybody know if i can pay the delivery guy by debit/credit card or does it has to be cash?

I am thinking the same thing, there is no way I can afford to pay that on top of what I have already spent. Utter bullshit.

I've been in contact with UPS here in Finland and I have to pay 11,50 € to UPS, which they want for the work to clear it out of the customs and the paperwork it includes. I've understood that Ten Club put the value to 100 US dollars, and the Value added tax in Finland is 22% so thats 22 USD = 16 euros (Eur/Usd exchange rate of today: 1,36) (The US dollar is falling fast and, this may be the steepest fall in one week of the US dollar in a quarter of a century  ).

We don't have to pay custom fees for products under 150 euros and VAT only if the amount is over 10 euros, so if Ten Club would put a value of max 45 euros (let's say 55 USD ;) if the dollar strengthens again) I wouldn't have to pay VAT, either.

Hopefully the extra fees for me would be not more than 27,50 euros, which I calculated.

So depending on your country's Value added tax, custom regulations and UPS policies, these extra fees gets added.

I understand that Ten Club can't be judged for the VAT's we have but as we paid 50 US dollars for shipping I think they should have chosen a delivery deal were no extra fees that must be paid to UPS, will be added. I'm sure UPS has some contracts of that kind, were this brokerage fee or whatever it's called, will be billed to the sender of the package.

    But does an autograph worth : 140€ (10c price) + 45€ (UPS fees) - 109€ (price in a local store) = 76€ ????
And what are my chances to get one autographed? Approx 0!
And why 10c refused to cancelled my order when I asked them to 8 days ago?
  • Just recieved the Box in Germany. 45€!!! I had to pay them too.
This is reallly ridiculous!! On ebay you can get the damned thing for 139€ !
Wasn´t lucky enough to get a signed one ...that would have been worth the ectra 110$ that i paid fpr shipping and Tax!
I already ordered a few times from ten club and i never had to pay taxes so far ...
    Does anybody know, why now?

At what point have you all tried to cancel the Super deluxe set from Ten Club? I mailed them yesterday but no answer during the night here in Europe and day in the US. The package was in Germany yesterday and I live in Finland so UPS could just take it back to Ten Club. Wouldn't they want to cancel it before it was shipped?

Is there an English version of that french site?

i had to pay customs once when 10c order was 100$. if your order has a certain value, you have to pay taxes. but sometimes you are lucky and the guys at customs don´t look at it. could you pay by ec or credit card or does it have to be cash?

Looks like the extra fees for me is approximately 27,50 euros and as I paid 133,25 euros in December the total will be 160,75 euros.

So depending on your country's Value added tax, custom regulations and UPS policies, these extra fees gets added.

If you check http://www.amazon.co.uk you see that it may have been wiser for us Europeans to buy the Super deluxe set there. In the EU they are responsible for that the VAT gets paid to the country the buyer lives in and they put the VAT's to the product which you can see when you check out, before placing the order. The marketplace stores located in Great Britain don't add that VAT, so I can't say how the Super Deluxe set would be handled at the customs of some EU country if you bought it there.

I understand that Ten Club can't be judged for the VAT's we have but as we paid 50 US dollars for shipping I think they should have chosen a delivery deal were no extra fees, that must be paid to UPS, will be added. you see in hindsight this would be what i would have done with all three of mine. But when there is a listing suggesting some will be signed, ten club obviously worked out how to grab our attention and stop us doing so. Jeff gave away picks in random orders.....worked out in the end almost everyone got one, a good 80% of orders, so I think people applied that logic here and are being royally shafted for it. Is it tenclubs fault? I'm not so sure, but it will make a great many think very carefully before being caught out again.....

Just had a call from my Dad who's very kindly been waiting at my house for it - £32 customs charge to pay, only accepts cash or cheques (and doesn't carry a float either!). Luckily had a bit of cash lying around, not too happy about it though, I'm all for supporting 10C and paying for products direct but I could have got it from Play.com for £99 inc. shipping rather than the £163 ($236) I ended up paying!
