I'm learning so much about international shipping today. :geek:

My order is supposed to show up tomorrow.

    Dear UPS,
Please show up in the evening when I am actually home, and don't make me make you take it to my Mom's house like last time. That was dumb. The 10C is being really cool, why can't you be?
    Thanks,
    Rockpants.

Yes that is great news. It's tough enough with the exchange rate, and then have to pay customs on top of that. But for the TC to help out with this is amazing!!

So is the Scheduled Delivery date the day it ships or the day it arrives? Because I got my e-mail today and it says the scheduled delivery date is the 17th and one day to get passed the border seems pretty quick. I'm outside of Vancouver though.

Thats pretty cool they changed it to expedited (which means we'd only have to pay the tax, the brokerage would be included when the 10c pays for the shipping.

UPS ground is the one that you get ripped off on. If something gets shipped via USPS it gets charge 5 dollars plus gst/pst when Canada Post handles the exchange (and Canada post is understaffed to they only randomly charge parcels).

UPS on the other hand makes their bread and butter off those brokerage fees. So that 5 dollar charge ends up being 35-40 dollars (they have a scale that increase the larger the value of the parcel). It automatically makes it uneconomical for Canadian customers to recieve parcels from UPS.

Its cheaper for the shipper to choose any shipping method, other than ground for Canadians.. expedited, worldwide express etc...

I'm really happy to see the 10c upgrade it expedited. UPS is so crooked :)

btw this still means you have to pay the gst/pst (which for me in alberta would be 5%. so about 7.50, which is a while lot better then 40-50ish).

I think you only have to pay GST/PST if it gets "chosen" at customs...I think I've only paid tax and duty (like $8) on one of the many things I've bought (a poster) from 10C. Sometimes you pay, but most of the time you don't...

Anyway, thanks Santos and Ten Club for taking care of us Canadians and the brokerage fees! You guys are so great!

the Customs agent working Canada Post's warehouse might let a package slip through the cracks here and there, but UPS declares EVERY item that enters their warehouse from abroad and so essentially every UPS package with a commercial invoice/declared amount is subject to GST&PST,...

Don't forget guys - they didn't say when it's due to be delivered by, did they? Rather, they said when they'll be sending it. At least that's what I thought "Scheduled Delivery" meant.

I'm a bit nervous... my package did not get upgraded to Expedited, does that mean I'll be paying their rip-off brokerage fee? According to the UPS tracking site, "PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE".
