PLEASE NO SENIORITY FOR NEXT TOUR

Way back when in the late 90's the 10c only allowed 2 tix for 2 different shows per member. Going back to something like that would satisfy just about everyone. It doesn't have to be 2 shows, they can bump it up to 5 or so. I think that would solve alot of problems. I used to have a good number but forgot to renew a couple of times. Now I'm in the 300,000's. I like to go to Hartford, cuz it's close. Only got tix thru 10c once, in 98. When there was a two venue limit. Now I have to settle for lawn seats or hike up to the Pepsi Arena in Albany, which I don't mind too much since it's PJ."I read about the evils of drinking, so I gave up reading." - Henry Youngman0

Yes you are right! I have a low #, but couldn't even score tickets to my Boston venue last tour! They sold out in like 1 sec! I was lucky enough to get tix through 10c for Hartford, but yes, even though you have the ability, the low# etc, still does not guarantee you any tickets at all... I am happy and lucky regardless of my seniority to get tickets to see the best band in the world! The one I love the most!0 -
This is ignorant. I didn't read the thread, so it's probably been stated but what would be the point of the Ten Club numbers if they didn't go by seniority? Everyone would just let theirs lapse and then sign up again when a tour starts. The Ten Club would lose all kinds of money.

I can see how it would be fustrating for newer members, but I've paying my dues diligently since 1994. Being able to say you're in the fanclub of your fave band is nice and all, but without the seniority which I use for a number of shows and and am always more than willing to share my extra with others than there really isn't an advantage to being in the club for me. I usually get merch sent to a friend in the US because the shipping costs are insane.0

If I was a new fan, I'd be disappointed. That being said, I've loved the band since year 1, but my number is in the upper 300K. I only joined the club a few years ago because my ex-gf had a low number. After seeing Ed play solo at NJPAC last year, it was absolutely breathtaking to see my favorite singer only 13 rows back. It sucks that I will probably never see them so close again. No seniority worked well for the Ed solo shows, let's do it again for the whole band.
I suggest you make friends with some people with low numbers as soon as possible
People will not want to give up their seniority if they have been paying their dues since day 1. I belong to that group by the wayI have no patience for bad music and stupid people...

The rules as they stand now ensure the most "real" fans in the good seats. If your number sucks, befriend someone with a better one, and scour the board the weeks/days leading up to the show(s).
Anyone with a low # want to be friends?? I have a real shitty ten club number. I've been a huge fan of the band since 1992 but did not join the Ten Club until more recent times. Thanks Funny Girl!
BTW, I forgot to put in my last post that I think they should keep seniorty and the lottery (since it gives those of us with shitty seats the chance to move up) but how about expanding the lottery a few more rows? And mixing the lottery up...if someone wins one night they are eliminated from winning the lottery for more than one show on a tour. This way would give more Ten Club members a chance to sit up front.8/29/00, 7/3/03, 5/24/06,6/28/08 & 6/30/08, 10/9/09,10/28/09, 10/30/09 & 10/31/09, 5/15/10, 5/17/10, 5/18/10, 5/20/10 & 5/21/10, 10/23/10 & 10/24/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 9/11/11, 9/12/11, 9/23/11, 9/22/12, 9/30/12, 7/16/13, 7/19/130 -

I don't think anyone is ever going to find it fair if it screws them. Maybe they should have never changed it last tour, cause now everyone has more reason to bitch and moan on how it "should" be.
Of course, I can definitely see people dropping the fan club if seniority is no longer an incentive. People will only join at the membership deadlines for tickets.
Never say you won't get close to see PJ...people with good numbers always offer their extras or trades if they can't go. Plus not every show they do is guarantee to have 10C tickets. I don't get why people think they will NEVER get a chance to see PJ up close.
Keep the damn seniority, cause no matter what 10C does, people will be unhappy. Why change something that's been there since the start and people knew about when they joined?0 -

Havent read all the pages so not sure if someone else pointed this out....but come to Europe...seniority means nothing here  I've only ever been rows 1 or 2 in Europe...then when I went to the US last year got lottery row 10....happy daysI need a coffee!0 -
ThrowUrArmsAroundMe wrote:I think the way they had it last year was incredibly fair. My 10C number is over 300xxx, but I still think it's as equitable as it can be. Obviously I want to be as close as possible, but I understand that seniority certainly has its place and deserves some priority. I'm sure some of the members of the band notice when it's the same people in front every time, which his why having rows 1-2, and 9-10 be random was very equitable. That way, everyone has a chance (even it it's a small one, perhaps 10% of getting up front or closer), and those that have seniority still have excellent seats. I'm not really sure if there is a better way than what was devised for the '08 tour.
I haven't read the whole thread, but I agree with this.......I've loved PJ from the beginning but only joined the 10C in 06, but its right to keep the seniority and reward the fans that have been paying their dues from the beginning. At least with the lotto the newer members have the chance of getting up close, so I hope they keep this policy too.
I'm lucky being in Europe, I can queue for the afternoon and get in the 2nd and 3rd row2006 - Dublin, Reading; 2007 - London, Copenhagen; 2008 - MSG; 2009 - SBE, Manchester, London; 2010 - Dublin, Belfast, London; 2012 - Manchester, Berlin; 2014 - Amsterdam, Milton Keynes; 2018 - London; 2022 - London; 2024 - Manchester0 -
I am not touching this one! I see both sides, but i love my seniority. I am not a jerk about it. I have taken 2 first timers for my other ticket in the past so i think I have done a few good things with my seniority seating."All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.0

The lottery is already giving new people the chance to see them up close. I've never been up in the first few rows despite the fact that I have a been in the fanclub for eleven years.
I'd be upset if I was thrown even further back if they got rid of seniority. :x&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 -
Here is the way I see it, for what little it is worth...
I don't have I high PJ number. I've never been in the front row. My first show was one of the side sections in Philly '06. As it turned out, there were no people in between my seat and McCready, just like 25 ft of barricaded area. I was completely stoked.
I was at Columbia and Virginia Beach in '08. I'm not going to lie, the idea of having even the slightest chance of getting row 1 had me on pins and needles. I didn't get those seats, but I was within the first 10 rows for both shows, still had every bit the time of my life, and the person I chose to take with my second ticket *gushed* over how amazing the seats were and how wonderful a show it was.
Sure, I'd love to be 1st row just one time in my life. But I didn't join the club back when I should have, and despite that, I'm eternally thankful for the AMAZING seats that I do get with my mediocre membership number.
I thank the 10c nearly everyday when I consider how simple, painfree, and brilliant the ticketing has been.
I'm still hoping for that elusive 1st row ticket (I'm sure I'd cry like a baby), but I still think that every show I have experienced has been a spiritual and brilliant moment in my life despite not being in the front 2...If Adam and Eve had Taco Bell they would have never eaten that filthy fruit...0 -
