in 89, Jeff and Prince were as legit as a hop hop star could get. They were the shit back then!!! He didn't say Public Enemy either, just the S1W's which is just their dancers.

that sounds like another great rap concert man, Kane and the Biz.....

    Pearl Jam w/Sonic Youth
    Starlake
    Pittsburgh, PA
    2000

There was a family emergency, and Thurston and Kim couldn't be at the show. So Ed came out and did a 4 song preset that was amazing (I was a very new fan and only knew "Parting Ways," but still), and then Lee sang all of his Sonic Youth songs.

Pearl Jam opened with "Even Flow" and the setlist was just great.

    Great show.

    Great bootleg, too.

Yeah, awesome show! Blazing opening with EFlow, Hail Hail and Animal, the umbrella girl/WASH moment...damn good show...going to have to pull that one out and have a listen again. :D

I remember this thread on the old Pit and I was damn near embarrassed to put my first concert. Then it turned out somebody else posted practically the same thing.

3 Dog Night, August 1969, Fort Worth, TX
    I was 14

I did manage to make up for it within the next year by seeing a lot of better acts than that, including Jimi Hendrix.

Nice! I'm jealous. Paul got to see them twice but I never did. I can't even remember my first for sure. Maybe the 1970 Ten Years After?

Ten Years After circa 1970 would have been crazy. Alvin Lee at his finest. I love that band. Ssshhhhhh is a great album.

Those are 2 bands I never got to see. When Queen toured the last time, I missed them, and the last time Lizzy played in L.A., they were an opening act, and I held-out for a headline show.

    Missed two icons, I did!

1991 Civic Auditorium - Portland, OR. Ice Cube, Scarface, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, & WC & The Mad Circle.

ricky, that is the greatest thing i've ever heard. wow. I loved Del then, the wish my brother george album is the only album I've owned on tape, cd and vinyl. and wc. his solo album, the shadiest one (came out in 98) is wicked. scarface and ice cube too! damn.

what a show that must have been.

Death Certificate tour. It was bad ass. It was right when "White America" was threatened by Gangsta rap. I was a 5'2" 125lb 16 year old very much out of my element at the time. There were horse policemen surrounding the building and helicopters over head.

John Cougar, because that's what he was called then. My Dad had me on his shoulders, but we had to leave early due to all of the cussing. From the stage, not the crowd. :)

    Ah, good times. ;)
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

The Monkees...reunion tour at Six Flags Great Adventure in the mid 80s.

Mine was the at Six Flags Great Adventure (jersey) in the early/mid 80's as well. I was with my parents we saw the Charlie Daniels Band  :?

My first concert by myself with my friends was in the early 90's i saw a local band in myrtle beach called Sqwearl. I loved them back then they drew a big crowd moshing, stage diving, head banging. It was a ton of fun. Through my teen years i must have seen that band 30 times or more.
