So where is Ben? If Sawyer and buddies have been at the Dharma Station for three years isn't Ben supposed to be there albeit a child? It would be 1977. Or did Ben come later? I always forget when the purge happened, but Ben had been around there for a long time before the purge, right?

Ben isn't there yet (at least I don't think so)... I'm sure he'll show up on the island sooner or later...

My real question is when in time is Locke since we know most of the 816 are in the 70s (1977 to be exact), and Locke must be at a place in time after that since he and the other survivors of AA are using a Dharma station as refuge.

And the Richard/Others Egyptian reference does make alot of sense.... wonder if the temple once looked similiar to a pyramid.....

the statue if you look at it also appears Egyptian and to be holding two Ankhs- I am curious what Time Locke/Ben are in as well.

I like the theory, but don't think the temple would look pyramid shaped. Pyramids weren't really temples in Egypt - they more for the burial of a pharaoh and were built to be aligned with the stars in the belt of the constellation of Orion.

I liked Sawyer's hair - maybe because I grew up in the 70's. I had Farrah Fawcett hair.

Oh, we need a picture of that...

Oh now you don't! :D Well, maybe one of these days...... at least I was skinny back then! But the hair.... omigosh! I spent so much time on it!

I didn't see any Farrah Fawcett do's on the women at the Dharma Station. Maybe they didn't have access to Charlie's Angels on the island.
    Something like this

hahaha! There was that girl in the beginning who the guard was making out with. A little more Jacklyn Smith than FF.

No proof of this.. just throwing it out there since LeFluer seems like a memorable name for some reason.... and yes Goodspeed was the name on the body where Locke found a map I believe

  • so who is the baby boy who was born to Amy?
Too young to be Locke or Ben. Notice they didn't mention the new baby's name.

I just got this interesting image from the Preston and Steve show Lost blog:

    http://www.prestonandsteve.com/picview.php?id=14194

Preston and Steve is a radio show on WMMR the rock station in Philly and they discuss Lost each week the morning after it airs.

    According to Wiki, Taweret is:

As the goddess of motherhood, Taweret was eventually assimilated into the identity of Mut, the great-mother goddess.

As a protector, she often was shown with one arm resting on the sa symbol, which symbolized protection, and on occasion she carried an ankh, the symbol of life, or a knife, which would be used to threaten evil spirits.

Nice work....I wonder if the statue is standing in 1977...when we see a successful childbirth. We know that by 2004 it is no longer standing when childbirth is an issue on the island.

Charlie's Angels tv show began in 1976 according to Wikipedia. I believe this to be true because by the time I graduated high school I had Farrah hair, which would have been June 1977. "Three years later" in the show last night would have been 1977.

I think the statue was in the past, I thought they were in the past when the well was covered up, and then they flashed forward to 1974 and the well had been started to be built.

What did you think of last night? Very satisfying episode. Love the Richard/Sawyer scene and the eyeliner comment made me crack up!
LOVED IT! This season continues to shape up very well. You can always count on Sawyer to come up with those great nicknames.

I read an article about the actor who plays Richard and he said people have been making those comments about him wearing eyeliner all his adult life.

I was working on my MA in English in fall 1977 and a graduate teaching assistant. Half my students, female AND male, had Farrah do's.

But we don't know what month in 1977....Charile's Angels probably started in the fall of 1976, and if I remember my childhood lust....the Farrah poster did not break big until 1977. The movement of culture was a lot slower in 1977 than it is today....then there is the question of what access did Dharma people on the island have to broadcast TV.....another question would be what was the rate of rotation for the Dharma workers on and off of the island?

Goodspeed was also the character who welcomed Ben and his dad to the island when Ben was a little boy. I remember this pretty vividly because--is everybody ready for this--or maybe I should say SPOILER ALERT--my last name is Goodspeed. My husband and I just looked at each other and started laughing so hard we missed several minutes of that episode.

Judging by the episode about Ben's childhood there wasn't much to do in their free time except drink beer and get shot at by the Hostiles. I wouldn't guess they were watching TV.

Yeah, I'm wondering about Rose and Bernard too. We know a lot of the other survivors got blown up when they first got away from the beach and ran into Widmore and his group in 1954. But I'm thinking that R&B are still around. Remember when Goodspeed told Sawyer that he could have 2 weeks to look for the rest of his crew? I think that they found some other survivors and they're all happy Dharma campers at the moment.

Another thing I'm wondering about. People obviously used to be able to have babies on the island. What changed? Did it have something to do with the bomb that was the buried and leaking radiation? Or I'm wondering if it has something to do with Ben's arrival there? I like the second theory because I love to hate Ben.

Sorry about your U2 tickets. Blame it on Ben.

There is a contest here on WMMR in Philly for tickets to that U2 show next week... I can't remember the details but I think tomorrow (or next week), it will only be open to MA residents and they have to fax their driver's license to be eligible... I'll keep an ear out for the details tomorrow.
