“I think we had more fans in the stadium than they did, and that’s the way it was supposed to be because it’s Giants Stadium ... aka MetLife stadium,” Jacobs said.
I'm getting so pumped for the game on Sunday night. I wish it would be Sunday already.

Ahh there's nothing like the sweet sound of silence coming from the Jets fans that I have to deal with on a daily basis.

does the winner of this game have a home playoff game as division champ? or did they change it to team with better record?
I think it's still home playoff game.

Great game. Got a little nerve-wracking when up by a TD, but this team is hot right now.
Eli Manning. Making himself known now and distancing himself from Peyton.

That lack of killer instinct when they could have put the game a way was a little frightening. Still, good to see them regain the momentum and finish the deal. They very well may be peaking right now, and getting surprisingly healthier during week 17. They may be the team no-one wants to play. I love it!

How did they not have a killer instinct? They went for a fourth down play at one point. The Dallas offense was firing on all cylinders at one point and the G-Men were getting understandably tired.
Dan Marino held the record for most passing yards from 1984 until Brees broke the record last week.
PASS ATTEMPTS:
1984 Marino- 564
2011 Manning- 589
A whopping difference of 25 attempts (1.6 attempts per game).
Come on people, check the stats before dismissing Eli's stellar season.
Dear lord, do I have to go into the "It's a much different game" rant again? The rules are FAR different now and favor the offense much more greatly than they did in 1984.
Marino would hit 5,500 yards in a bad year with these rules and offensive game plans ... and I hate that fuck.
Please please please ... do not compare Eli to Marino
(Eli has one more championship .... dammit, my Marino hatred slipped there)

So what rule changes from '84 to '11 substantially changes the amount of yards per attempt? Serious question.
So what rule changes from '84 to '11 substantially changes the amount of yards per attempt? Serious question.
The reason passing is WAY up is because of two reasons ...
1) The complex offensive strategies now employed ... way more advanced than in 1984, the emphasis on completion percentage has helped all QBs rack up big yards ... take a look at the career QB rating leaders, most are current QBs.
And, Illegal contact is enforced way more than it used to be, with the NFL even stating openly it was an area of emphasis several times in the past few years ...

They shut down Dallas for an entire half and then obviously checked out for a quarter and let them get right back in the game. Dallas' offense was not firing on all cylinders: the Giants' D was missing tackles left and right.

Thats true, look at that Jet game, Sanchez was it 67 passes, this would never happen in the 70's and 80's, it's the trend now.

And 12 of the top 21 all time years in passing yards have happened in the past 5 years ...

2) The rule changes ...
All the rules around protecting the QB.
And, Illegal contact is enforced way more than it used to be, with the NFL even stating openly it was an area of emphasis several times in the past few years ...
2004 - http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/s ... id=1840261 (This was after the Colts complained in 2003 that the Patriots were handling their receivers too much)
2007 - http://www.nfl.com/kickoff/story?id=090 ... nfirm=true
Cannot find total I.C. penalties called by year .... but, I'd find it hard to argue that the rules now GREATLY favor the offense.
