He had a good opportunity to take the RF job beginning of last year and he sucked. He had a huge homer in the playoffs, but otherwise did nothing all season. Good speed but doesn't know how to steal bases, and seems like his defense should be better.

    thanks ... i guess ... hahaha ...

well ... i don't believe in god but i do believe in AA ... so, here's hoping he was "misused" over there ...

Dude's on his third team. Definitely hasn't been "misused". Definitely got more than his fair share of time to start both here and Cleveland. Dude's just an average player, but ya never know. He's versatile, plays all spots in the outfield, has a weak arm though, pulls everything, does everything at an average to below-average level.

Ha. Just saw on Frank Gailey's baseball reference page that he's a Philly native.

Best hitting pitchers in all of baseball. New strategy for the playoffs, fielders pitch and pitchers hit.

seriously. he will be their best bat off the bench

I'm ok with the move as long as he doesn't go anywhere near the rotation. they were desperate for LH bullpen help. love RPs on one year deals (ie, the opposite of what they did with papelturd)

so the best move of this offseason was signing dontrelle willis. YAY!!

Like the move. Extremely cost effective with not a lot of downside since you're getting him for a bargain, is worth a shot using him in LOOGY-type situations(even though this is a major part of Manuel being an idiot - though, I won't put it all on him since he has at least a pitching coach who should be advising him otherwise), plus has decent speed for a pinch-run spot if you desperately needed him, absolutely rakes as a pitcher, and could possibly fill in for a spot-start since you need anywhere up to 9 starters over the course of a season. His numbers were sick against lefties. Now, we just gotta hope that management uses him solely in that role.

hard to believe we all agree on something. i'm a fan of this also. who knows, maybe he completely reinvents himself as a lefty beast out of the pen for the rest of his career. cost effective and the dude's still just 30 years old.

apparently boston is talking with rollins

when I saw the lowrie trade I thought that it made absolutely no sense for boston. signing rollins would justify the lowrie move (somewhat, it's still a perplexing move for boston).

I really hope amaro knows what he's doing with this rollins contract. now that the FA market for IFs has dried up, the phils would be left with someone like yuneski betancourt, who might be the worst player in all of MLB.

the offseason has been so bad that I'm hoping they keep the inept lineup intact. funny. and incredibly frustrating.

I'm gonna have to be the lone voice of dissent (so I can't be accused of "not having any opinions"). I just have a terrible feeling we're going to be stuck watching Dontrelle in some crucial situation walking in runners left and right. If he really is used as a LOOGY then it will probably work out well, but I have no confidence that he will actually be used that way.
