Yeah, that's very true. First time I ate there, we got a bunch of shit to pick at, it came out and we realized almost everything we got was fried. Needless to say, I felt like shit for the next 24 hours. I saw that episode a while back.

today's Inquirer mentioned that Chase Utley had the 2nd lowest percentage of line drives of any player in the majors this year with 300 or more at-bats. not good. can't believe our sabermaticians here haven't brought that one up. i guess when it's the golden boy no one mentions it.

    Who was the worst?

Vernon Wells. i was kind of shocked at the stat to be honest. i knew he has lost some power but kind of a scary stat. and he is getting $20 million next year

Ahh, yeah, that makes sense. Was hoping it wasn't going to be a certain Yankee. Yeah, that's definitely not good. That's what made him one of the best players in the game for a couple years. Everything he hit was a bullet.

Edit: And hey, Vernon Well is getting $21 mil for the next 3 years.

it was a smoke and mirrors first half....

pitching was decent....hitting sucked, but htey got a ton of timely hits....

2nd half, pitching soured and no timely hits.

i remember reading somewhere that the pirates 2nd half was one of the worst in the history of the game.

it was bad, but not sure it was that bad...

    but i did look...

by my count, 23 up and 46 post all star break, including a 7-22 record in august.

take the post all star win %, it extrapolates to a 54-108 full season pace

In the modern history of Major League Baseball that began in 1900, no team has fared worse than these Pirates after holding first place through 100 games. Actually, no team has even come close. The Pirates' 16-40 record down the stretch makes for a .286 winning percentage. Next-worst was the 1977 Chicago Cubs, who went 60-40 to lead their division through 100 games, then went 21-41 for a .339 winning percentage.

    I'll give Howard credit....

dude was part of a team that choked away a solid season and he suffered a pretty major injury....yet he is willing to head out in public to handle his business..knowing he will need to use a motorized shopping cart.

    that deserves a

Haha, very true I guess. I would have been on the ground laughing for 3.5 hours if I saw him rolling around the supermarket like a 75 year old lady.

I have been meaning to ask this since I hear this all the time. Why do you say that? I hear the opposite. I hear he's a complete dick, as I am sure the majority of professional athletes are.

Well maybe I'm overstating since I've never met him, all I've seen is his charity work, his interviews during the season, he just seems like a good guy. He participates in all or most of the other player's charities, which right there is a plus.
I have never once heard he was a dick.

Gotcha, no doubt he does a lot around the city. I just hear he isn't a friendly guy and thinks he's pretty important from bartenders and such. Like I said, I am sure all athletes are the same though, I just hear his name a lot.

bartenders really? 90% of dudes in bars are dicks to bartenders. as for ryan in 7 years the guy has never been in even a hint of trouble and has never acted out or lashed out at fans or media in a town that begs for that behavior. for all the guy has accomplished in this town and to take the amount of shit he takes from the media and fans you have to give him credit for never lashing out at least once.

I don't really give a shit. Players at his level shouldn't get in trouble. I just hear he isn't a friendly dude and I was curious since people have said he's a good dude recently.
