Well - the "if" came true. And Dallas just lost to the Steelers.
The Eagles now virtually control their own destiny to make the last playoff spot. If they win out, all the help they need is for the Falcons to lose one of their next two games - either to the Bucs at home or the Viks on the road. If that happens, the Birds make the post season.
and somehow the eagles win out.....THAT's A MUCH BIGGER IF
can somebody explain to me how the eagles get in with 1 division win?
Arizona
Minnesota
Tampa
Carolina
Giants
Cowboys/skins/bears/falcons etc
what possible tiebreakers do you have against any team?
none. doesn't matter though. if we win out, we will be 10-5-1 (and have 3 division wins). if we win out, all we need is for atlanta (8-5) to lose one more game.
arizona won their division so they dont belong in this conversation.
tampa or carolina (both 9-3) will win their division or take the first wild card spot.
minnesota (8-5) is in the driver's seat to win the north.
none of the other teams remaining (bears 7-6, cowboys 8-5, skins 7-5) can win more than 10 games either (assuming we win out). so if we do win out, we'll be a half game ahead of them and in the playoffs thanks to our tie.
in your other post you mentioned its a big "if" to say "if the eagles win out." is it? we have a dreadful browns team coming to town next week on monday night. then we go to dc to play a skins team that is freefalling at this point. then we have the cowboys at the linc in basically a playoff game to get into the playoffs, and we all know how Big Game Tony plays in big games.

because of the eagles tie against cincinnati there are no possible tie-breakers unless some of those teams themselves get a tie in the next few weeks. if they win at least 2 they will be either up a half game or down a half game.
yes that is going to be a great game i think. I actually like Nova in that one. I've seen Texas a few times, still trying to find a point guard - stuck between having Abrams play the point or shooting guard. Should be a fun one to watch though.
to get back on topic - fully understand selling tickets for financial reasons especially in this brutal economy - it's just frustrating sometimes to see how this town gets so high and so low with this team. when they win everyone thinks they are going to win out and role in the playoffs, when they lose its the end of the world. it's somewhere in the middle with this team. hopefully they can win out and make the playoffs because there isn't anyone they can't play with. going to be brutal if they come up a half game short knowing the sucked against Cincy and the Bears.

i agree. im normally more level headed than i have been this year. but the bengals and ravens games were so dreadful it was tough to be positive. but i still think reid should go if we do not make it to the playoffs. at least 3 of our losses i pin, almost entirely on him.
I think it's small, but I think there may even be a slight chance to make it in the playoffs at 9-6-1. The tie is the key.
Basically, all we need to care about is ALT and DAL (8-5). Then think slightly about WAS and NO.
Here's ATL and DAL schedules:
NYG at DAL
BAL at DAL
DAL at PHI
TB at ATL
ATL at MIN
St Lou at ATL
I think DAL could easily lose 2. Atlanta, I think won't necessarily. But, TB and MIN are tough.
It's possible to go in at 9-6-1 (although not likely), provided we don't lose to DAL. If we win out, we obviously beat out DAL. I can't see ATL winning three in a row... so I think we are in with three wins. And who knows, if TB loses tonight and ATL does win three in a row. TB has to win their last two to get in the Wildcard over PHL.
gotta love Eagles fans:
Speaking of short yardage, you know Philly is struggling when reader Dan from Fairfax, Va., sends me a long e-mail explaining why Andy Reid should sign a "little person," then have McNabb line up in shotgun formation while holding the "little person," take a shotgun snap, hand the ball to the "little person," then fling him over the offensive and defensive lines into the end zone. And Dan was serious. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2008 Philadelphia Eagles!

The only good team right now I like is the Steelers. If they don't make it. It's gonna be a sucky SB.
I hate the rest of the teams besides the Cardinals. I think I'm going to play my Giants SUper Bowl DVDs the next couple of weeks and try to pretend this year never happened .
I have no doubt that Philly can beat the Cards in the NFC championship. So glad they beat the Giants today. I am a Pats fan so because of their absense in the playoffs, I am hoping the Eagles can take it this year. I hate both the Chargers and Steelers so a Eagles/Ravens Super Bowl would be ideal for me.
The D has to stay at the top of their game. If the D has another good game with their emotions running high they will win it.

Eagles probably beat Arizona, but no way they beat either Baltimore or Pittsburgh.
Yeah we can't beat the steelers oh wait we already did this year. but theres no way as a eagles fan u can look past arizona, carolina and tampa games still make me sick. Go Birds!!!

Regular season games mean nothing. Look at the Giants last year. Lost to Dallas twice and to New England.

i do have my facts straight - still trying to sell your Cowboys tickets or are you now back on the bandwagon and are going to go to that game?
77-55, until thursday night at least we still own your ass
i sold them. but partly because i am unemployed and need cash! but not once did i say i would never watch them. so, no, your facts are incorrect.
i think it will be more like 80-65. GO NOVA!
no way we score 65 - more like 62-38 Nova - we suck this year.
i am more psyched for texas on tuesday.
