So funny. I doubled over quite a few times. And so did my wife. The Mounties are way funnier foes than the Spurbury PD were—almost as funny as the Broken Lizard troop. Stay till after the credits.

    Love & Mercy

I'm a big Paul Dano fan, so it's always nice to see him in anything... I think I could watch him read the alphabet and feel pretty good about it. I also love John Cusack, so another bonus.... and Elizabeth Moss is good too. They all were really good in it... Didn't love the job Paul Giamati did though, surprisingly. Just not enough depth... might have been intentional, but it didn't quite work. Anyway, this movie could have been way better than it was. Seems a little lazy, like the screenplay writer and director just didn't put in the effort that it deserved. But anyway, that thing with the messed up psychiatrist taking total control over Brian Wilson's life and the screwy diagnoses is nuts. I'm not a Beach Boys fan at all, so I never knew anything about that. Holy crap.... Poor Brian sure was surrounded by a lot of serious shitheads, them letting that freak doctor do that to him for so many years. And his dad selling off the rights to all the Beach Boys music? Omfg. Tragic.
Finally, while I don't like the album Pet Sounds (and not for lack of trying - I've always felt like I ought to like it... But I just can't), this movie did a fairly good job of getting to the heart of how it was made and why it became such a renowned and revered album that is considered groundbreaking. The movie doesn't make me like listening to it any more than before (I tried it to make sure - no dice, lol), but it did make me appreciate it more as art, and it made me appreciate Wilson more as an artist.

Avengers: Infinity War.  Whilst it had good moments, it was mainly blah for me. They tried to cram in every character under the Marvel sun, without really using any of them well. Sooo many drawn out bits that make the movie drag on. Yes, lots of good action scenes, but the story for me was painful and made no sense other than for marketing purposes (which is what its all about)

My favourite Marvel movies are the initial movie of each character, in general, and I do not really love the Avengers movies or when lots of other characters are thrown into a movie together to fight the inevitable end of the world. I only went to take my kids, who didn't mind it, but didn't love either

Found a nice copy of "The Postman" the other day and watched it today.  Great flick and that scene with Tom Petty is so cool... but, man, that really got to me unexpectedly.

We watched Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle at the weekend. It was pretty enjoyable as a piece of popcorn fun, and it included probably one of my favourite movie line so far this year: “Cake makes me explode!”
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)
