i watched this the other night. holy shit was that creepy. the pictures and diagrams of slenderman freaked me out. the story of the girls involved in the stabbing was very interesting though. i can't imagine what those parents have to live with every day. how do you deal with that?
Was def interesting. Goes to show the power of viral phenomenon on the young, specifically those with undiagnosed mental illness. It was the perfect storm and it ultimately destroyed three families. It was amazing that the victim survived.
Will be interesting to see hat happens with these girls and this trial in the year to come.
Yes, that schizophrenia diagnosis was so sad, especially considering it was hereditary. Throughout the entire documentary I felt that girl's mom was barely keeping it together. Can't imagine.

Both Jack Reacher movies. I like them! Entertaining (FWIW, I always really like Tom Cruise movies. He may be a fucking Scientologist nutbar, but I think he's super effective as an actor).

I can't actually say for myself yet becuase my local theater never got La La Land, but I really feel like it's getting all sorts of unfair bonus points becuase of the LA setting and themes, being that critics and the people that vote on the awards shows have strong ties to LA.

Personally I thought Arrival was amazing, and although the 8 oscar nominations are exciting, it won't win anything significant. The Academy couldn't possibly let something as low brow as aliens actually contend for best picture.

  • Regal (and AMC as well, I think) is having an Oscar Film Fest in the next couple of weeks. You buy a pass and see all the Best Picture nominees you want. I'm hoping to see Lion and Manchester by the Sea, at the least.
