Good luck Flyers, you've got your hands full I think.

Yeah its gonna be a tough series. I can see the Flyers winning if they do three or four things:
Contain Ovie.. you can't stop him but you have to limit opportunities, but can't lose sight of the Caps other big players
Stay out of the box... with the snipers on the Caps, the Flyers have to limit the penalties
    Good, solid goaltending from Biron...
Play Flyers hockey... do what got them here and roll 4 solid lines and forecheck.

Can't wait to get home.. cook some wings and get the beer flowing....

Friday/Sat night games are good thanks to beer and BBQ.
Ovechkin is the obvious threat. Should be a good series.

I placed a bet with a coworker that the Flyers will go further in the playoffs than the Rangers. And I do believe it. I think we can win this series in 6. But we obviously have to take 1 or both of these first two games in WSH.

I be watching tonight, and looking forward to being in the Verizon Center in June to see PJ.

    Let's go Flyers!!!!!!!!

  • Intense game. Feel awful for Thoresen he might lose a testical.

Flyers LW Patrick Thoresen taken to hospital after hit in groin by Ovechkin shot

    The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Flyers left wing Patrick Thoresen was taken to the hospital for tests after getting hit in the groin by a shot during Philadelphia's 5-4 loss to Washington on Friday night.

"He's going to the hospital to get an ultrasound done on his testicles. It's bad enough they may have to remove one," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "Right now, we're not sure how serious it is, but there's a chance he may need surgery."

Thoresen blocked the shot with about 6 1/2 minutes left in the game, then dropped to the ice, writhing in pain. Moments later, Washington scored to tie the game 4-4.

"Obviously, I'd have liked to see a whistle," Flyers coach John Stevens said.

Thoresen was helped off the ice and taken to the locker room.

I'm sure if that was Ovechkin laying there in pain the ref would have blown the play dead

That's why it's a judgment call I guess....how many times have you seen guys look like they're dead on the ice and then skate off

If the Flyers would have been anywhere close to getting possession of the puck, I think they would have blown it dead. It sucks but that goal didn't lose the game, it was the lack of intensity in the 3rd period and the lets hold on to the lead mentality which doomed us. With a win tomorrow, all is forgotten and home ice is ours.

Have to hope for the split

The Flyers have outplayed the Caps for 5 of the 6 periods.... just have to continue the effort and defensive play and hopefully Marty can give a few encore performances of game 2. He was good positionally and got alittle lucky at times with bounces but all in all a solid game and big win for the club.

3 shutouts in past 4 games but everyone keeps talking about how rough Philly is playing instead of talking abotu how Biron is playing. Let's go FLYERS

I'm sure Biron and the Flyers are just fine with that. And I think playing Ovie and the Caps in the first round has deflected alot of the playoff pressure from the Flyers forwards... which is alright by me as long as they keep performing.

I see Ovie coming on strong early (after all the abuse he took in the media after game 2) and hopefully the Flyers don't get too juiced and make some silly, early mistakes due to the crowd's energy..... I'll be there on Thurday :D

Well that looked fun tonite... hopefully Kimmo is not too bad and can return for game 4 or 5..... can't wait for Thurs nite :D

And that last Caps goal should have been disallowed... but still got the win and that's all that matters.

We are Officially dominating this series !

Shame we blew the 1st game the way we did should be 3-0

Any word on Kimmo ? Other than the "Upper Body Injury" I heard Stevens after the game and he said he may miss game 4.

    We need him

no word on Kimmo yet... I figure he won't play game 4 and then we'll hear from there. He fucking hurt himself on the god damn camera inside the back of the net... unbelievable.

I'm not terribly worried about him being out but it is a big loss.... other guys just have to step up now... and a nice game by Hatch last night, he looked good and strong around the puck.

And I lost alittle respect for Ovie after that pirouette last night....

Last night was awesome. So much fun. That ranks up there with the NFC Championship game 3 years ago, as one of the best sporting events I've ever been to.

Nice dive by Ovechkin. Guess he's trying to be more like Crosby.

Yeah I saw that. The TSN guys doing the replays this morning tried to make it sound like he was hurt, hehe.

I was surprised by the dive

He's usually not that type of player

Woulda think of Green challenging Upshall ??

Upshall has been in their heads the whole series

I think Ovechkin is getting frustrated. That's why he took that dive. I just hope Timmonen isn't out to long.

Yeah, Upshall didn't back down. He's playing great for a young guy in the playoffs.

Glad to see Briere step it up.
