    I can't wait

It should be a good series

The TV deal is may be playing into the Friday-Sunday deal ?

    NBC game ?

True, the Sunday game is on NBC but they could have easily put Crysby and the Pens on Sunday. It doesn't matter, just seems like alot of days off between the end of the season and the first game, but I'd rather have that, then start the series and have 3 or 4 days off between games.

How funny would it be to have the Sens knock the Pens out of the first round again.... :D

I don't believe so.. think he's out for at least the first round.

And I guess the league loves the Flyers-Caps matchup.. every game on Versus or NBC.

    Wow.

Do you guys even watch hockey? Ovechkin has been promoted just as much as Crosby, and much more so this year given Sid's injury.

And did you really think he would play Sunday? The Flyers are nothing but thugs through-and-through, and I'm glad that Pittsburgh doesn't have to face them in the first round simply because you guys would take cheap shots and probably take out half the team to make up for losing in 5 or 6.

Anyways, the Caps should dominate assuming Ovechkin can avoid the swinging sticks and shots to the head that he will undoubtedly be treated with. But like the Pens showed (when playing full strength), all you need is a decent power play to win.

And is "Crysby" the best that Flyer's fans can come up with?

    So jealous.

Waaaaaaaaaah !! Flyers are too tough

Dude, the league has been jocking Crysby before he even step foot on the ice in the NHL

I knew he wouldnt play because he's a wuss, how pathetic a team doesn't go for the best overall record in the Conference and would rather have an "easier" series in Round One

By him not playing just proves my point

Talk about no balls...just like your coach who whines when he gets beat 8-1

You havent beaten us in our building and we won the season series so I guess you better take the "easier" way out

Philly is a bunch thugs ?? You're sticking up for a team who had Ulf Fuckin Samuelsson on their team ?

Jealous ? Of Ovchekin you're right...love to have that guy

  • I can't believe that this ends up being my 1000th post...

Anyways, please explain to me how he has any control of who the league decides to promote and market? I mean he was told he was the "next" one or whatever stupid thing they came up with that week, so it wasn't like he was asking for it, so give him a break.

There's a difference between playing hockey and taking runs at the other team, which is what Philly does. I don't expect you to see that because you're obviously a big fan and I respect that, but I would much rather face a struggling Ottawa team without their best player than a team that could potentially take out a star or two. It's common sense and I'm sure if given the choice Flyers fans wouldn't want to be facing the hottest team in the league. Forget the macho bullshit. This is a marathon and your guys have to be healthy.

And yeah, we had Ulf. But those things are cyclical, and currently the Flyers hold the title of dirtiest team in the league. It's actually pretty unanimous if you were to ask anyone affiliated with the sport of hockey.

Anyways, it should be a great opening round and even better two months ahead.

Yes I do watch hockey and actually I would say that Crosby has been hyped and promoted a helluva lot more than Ovie. I could probably count on one hand the number of nationally televised games that the Caps have had since Ovie has been in the league, Crosby, I bet has had more than double the amount.

Thugs through and through huh??? name one incident in the 2nd half of the season which involved a Flyer player... don't think too hard. You're glad because as Phantom Pain said, you didn't win a game in our building all year. If there is anyone who can be accused of cheap shots its Gonchar, Roberts and Gill.. but hey its hockey and crying about it gets you nowhere (ie Sindy). The Pens showed that they wanted no parts of the Flyers by sitting Crosby and then proceeding to get what 7 shots in 8 PP opportunities.. or was the Flyers PK unit just that good???

Ovie is a great player, yes ... but he's only one player on that team. The Flyers have show alot of scoring depth and have the #2 PP and a top 10 PK this season. The Caps have been good on the PP but their PK is horrible.. if this series hinges on special teams, the Flyers should win. The Flyers for the most part this season carried the play against the Pens 5 on 5 and 4 on 4... and all the 2nd to last game showed was that given PP chances the Pens could succeed.. take them away and that games is alot different.

Finally, as for Crysby... no its not the best but its pretty damn effective.

The Caps-Flyers series should be one of the more exciting of the playoffs....

And as for the dirtiest team in hockey... try looking out to the west coast for that title.

And Laraque's dive at Biron this year was completely clean too.

I understand that Downie and Boulerice had some bad penalties early in the season, and they got the suspensions they deserve, and served them. That doesn't make the Flyers "the dirtiest team in the league". Every team has plays that could be called "dirty". I would call all of Sidney's dives dirty plays.

Anyhow, let's enjoy the playoffs. Go Flyers!!!

as a life long flyer fan (26 years) i have to say that the flyers have always been a rough team that really gets picked on. look at a certian player that believes that it is OK to try to cut people with their skates or elbow a person to teh head in last years final or teh same hti from behind of that same player. what suspension did he get for all those things a total of 9 games.

I lost all respect for Pitt not to play Crosby that last game. it shows lack of confidence and lack of sportmenship.

Flu outbreak on the Habs? That shouldn't be a stretch. Those guys love getting the flu.
