with driving won't you be caught in all the crazy traffic bullshit? can't trains just shoot you right there?

well, there will be some traffic, but in the evening, most of the traffic is going out of the city, not into. so i probably wont see a lot of it, except near GW bridge before the exit to Washington Heights.

now, Metronorth is the best bet if the show is in midtown (30-50th streets), but this one is on 175th street...waaaay uptown. so i think the subway ride from Grand Central (shuttle to Times square and then walk a long block to ACE line and then catch the A from 40th to 175th) to the venue is definitely going to take about an hour.

It is not bad when you are going in, but i am thinking about returning when the subways don't run regularly during night. and the metronorth also runs every hour or so. and there is less traffic at night on I95 so it wont be that bad.

its a pain in the neck both ways, but just gotta choose the lesser of the two evils. :D

I'm with ya. I think leaving here at about 4pm will do it. Going to take the Merritt to Hutch I think. The Cross Bronx off 95 is a nightmare at that time of day.
Want to get something to eat and give travel time. I checked the trains, no way, it would take hours and lots of jumping for us to do it that way.
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

Why don't you just take the 1 train downtown?

does the 1 run normally at a late hour?
eventhough its a local, it definitely would been preferable to the A on the night of neils show
no joke we're all waiting forever on the platform for a train to come (while viewing/smelling the lovely site of the garbage train thats on the platform), then they kick all the passengers off the next stop when it finally does come, announce that there is no express service and this happened 2 more times (getting kicked off)
it was miserable and i'm not exagerating about the 3 hours

its a beautiful venue and i'm not slamming the neighborhood, but if its going to be used for concerts it would be great if the transit system made adjustments
ie the way Jones Beach coordinates bus service/LI railroad

i'm still ticketless, but i hope to get lucky one way or the other

It sounds like taking the "A" train back to mid-town after the show is a pain.

Is there relatively safe/affordable parking around the venue?

    maybe this will help:

At least I (the kid) got tickets for night one in New York via ticketmaster (ticketbastard) on the computer. The funny thing is meanwhile I (the kid) was on hold on the phone for night two but it's also is sold out.

    The Kid is sweating though?

I think he was sweating it out thinking he wasn't going to get tickets b/c he was on hold on the phone and it sold out?

    Did you get tickets?

  • I'm going to try to take the the 1 train home. You can pick it up at 168th. Which is 1 stop on the A or you could walk the 7 blocks. Bad thing about the 1 is is local all hours and its 15 stops down to Times Square.
Not sure how long the solo shows. But according to the schedule there is an 11:38 train from 168th and one every 12 minutes later but you can't trust NYC transit.

I saw a few suggestions of Dinosaur BBQ as a meet-up spot for the Monday show, but its website says it's closed on Mondays.

    Any other ideas?

wow... some pretty racist comments in this thread. A pity that some of those making them will be making the show and I won't...
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
