Well hey if the Leafs would have beaten Vancouver that year then things might have been different in 94, and in 93 if Gretkzy didn't high stick Gilmour and get away with it(5 mins back in the day)then Leafs would have beat the Habs to lol.

My old roommate stuck to this delusional argument as well. The Habs would have done the same thing to your Leafs that we did to the Kings.

Laffs got bitch slapped in 94 wasn't even a series over in 5 games and if memory serves me correctly they didn't score for over 130 minutes and to top that the only game the Laffs did win they needed OT.

Well it really doesn't matter cause the Canucks couldn't finnish the job, the Moose was on the Loose and ran straight through the Canucks heart, Kirk McLean what a joke of a goalie he was.

trying to get this thread back on track here I think if Razor can kkep it together we're just as good as any of the teams we're fighting with, habs are hot but we'll see, islanders are done without dipeitro, Carolina meh, tampa is falling the rangers might make it. but really if the leafs didn't pooch all the games of late that they have (buffalo, the habs last weekend) we'd be set as it stands I hope we can make it to 7th because the sabres do worry me. oh yeah CHAD KILGER IS A BEAST

Game 7 1 goal loss...hardly run over...This should get the ire of our NY hockey fans..........The only reason the Rangers pulled it out in game 7 was thanks to the extra day off between game 6 and game 7. The Canucks had the momentum and had those washed up has been oilers on the ropes after winning games 5 and 6. If they had played game 7 with the normal one day off for travel between Vancouver and NY the Rangers would have been finished!!! Ranger fans can thank the weasel Bettman for that one.

And as far as goalies go didn’t the Laffs have Potvin at the time you can’t honestly say you would take Potvin over Mclean???

Yes Potvin was a better Goalie in my opinion, i think Pavel Bure is the only reason you made it to the finals in the first place.

Well Kirk Mclean just was a terrible goalie in my opinion, just like Irbe the year he got on a hot streak for Carolina and eliminated the Leafs, but Detroit got to him and down went Carolina.

agreeded he has way better speed than I ever excpected from watching him with other teams in previous years, huge that Tucker and Welly are back but I guess wellwood didn't play much last night so I hop everything is cool there. I'm so glad that Aki Berg and Wade Belak no longer play significant minutes, like having a decent defence is so forgien to me

Well at least Aki is back in Finland, well Wade still plays defence on some nights and scares me every time he's on the ice, i do like him as forward on some nights, like say if Janssens is playing or Orr, McGratten, but if the other teams tough guy is not in the lineup i have no use for Wade Belak.

Belak is good as a fourth liner cause he knows the deal and what he is excpected to do, I remember there was a game where it was him newberry and I think maybe Kilger and it was the best forcheck I have ever seen, maurice rolled them and the sundin/poni/antro line back to back and without exageration the leafs changed lines completly and never lost possesion of the puck in teh offensive zone

So you live in Edmonton, how crazy was it last year, with all the dreams of Oiler fans flushed down the drain.

it was fun while it lasted but I was glad they lost becaue I never would hear the end of it, it was even better this year because all my friends were naive to think that they desereved to be in the finals and logically (well illogically) belived they would be back again this year so when things didn't go as good as the planned it was so much fun to see thier lines change from "Oilers are going to win the division" to "fuck the oilers"

Ya well i believe the Leafs had the same amount of points as the Oilers last year but the Oilers are in a different conference and luckly got to the finals.

    Sundin: Playoff seeding stinks

Mats Sundin is not a fan of how the playoff seeding works in the NHL.

"You should be seeded by how many points you get, not being in a (soft) division," Sundin said in the Toronto Sun.

Currently the Atlanta Thrashers have the third seed in the Conference despite having less points (89) than both Pittsburgh and Ottawa who have 98.

"We've been on the bad end of that a couple of times," Sundin said. "One year we were seeded fifth one year when we should have been seeded fourth. Another year we should have been third, and we were fourth. It changes who you play. It affects you."

Under this system, Ottawa and Pittsburgh will meet in the first round meaning one of the top four teams in the East will be guaranteed to be out by the second round.

It also gives the sixth place team the advantage of perhaps avoiding a better team in the first round because of the skewed ranking system.

Meanwhile, in the National Post, it was reported that injured centre Michael Peca is still recovering from a broken right leg and will not be available for any of Toronto's remaining regular season games.

The injury will keep him on the sidelines until at least the first round of the playoffs

"It doesn't demoralize me," Peca said. "I'm just going to keep working hard. The team's playing great, so I know I'll get a chance to play regardless."
