    I don't miss the hangovers..

I would be in bed for 24 hours after a drunk with my head pounding, panicky, having thrown up every last bit of my stomach..

I definately drank more than my share so I'm done..

you all can have the rest...l

Three years now and I'll take this side of the ledger over the other..

Its an inside job for sure..

to be quite honest tis not the mind im much concerned with. at least not whilst drinking. it all comes down to the natural instincts of a brainless body on auto pilot. :D

  • I drink as much as I possibly can on Friday and Saturday and rarely even have one beer the rest of the week. A friend came to the house last night and went to the fridge looking for a beer, not finding one she said "I don't see how you can go through two cases on the weekend and not even have one beer in the house the rest of the week." I can't keep it there all the time because I would be full-fledged alki otherwise...so I just remove the temptation

the fact that you have to avoid having any in the house during the week to avoid getting drunk is not some magical shield against alcoholism, it only means you're trying to control alcoholism. contrary to popular opinion, there's a hell of a lot more to being an alcoholic than just drinking every day. i know many people who drink daily and are not alcoholics and i know others who drink only once a week and are clearly alcoholics.
    and like that... he's gone.
  • Not often at all....maybe 1-2 drinks/beers every 3-4 weeks if that. For the damage it does to yer body, it's really not worth it imo...there are much better/safer drugs out there ;)

Eh, but I like to throw a good drunk when I can. I do realize the thing about binge alcoholism....one of my best friends drinks daily but I wouldn't say he is an alchoholic. I never really think about drinking during the week, but when Friday rolls around my mouth starts watering

a glass or 2 of wine, almost daily.....weekends, probably more. up until a few years ago, i never drank daily, nor too often. only socially, and only out unless we had a party or something. i most definitely drink more since i started to drink wine, and i do love it. bit tough on the wallet tho, so i am trying not to drink as much...also get hubby to cut back on the weeknight beer and some some $$$. however, this month and last month work is just insane, crazy hours.....so it's great to come home and have a glass or 2 to unwind before hitting the sack and doing it all over again. :p also, during normal, not-crazy workdays....a great meal and a bottle of wine is just sooooo good. weekend nights can be 2 bottles.....or mixed drinks out. so on average, i'd guesstimate 2 drinks a day.
    Stay with me...

is that you or her being in brainless auto pilot mode?

from experience ive found such a relationship works only if both are brainless and flying on instinct. :D

fair enough. just wanted to point out that alcoholism isn't just some wino with a brown paper bag living under a bridge and drinking all day every day. it's a common misconception. if only it was that simple ;)

Oh yeah, I wasn't arguing or being defensive at all. I see true alcoholism all around me all the time and it very often is not a wino-type person at all.

it IS interesting to me to see how many truly cannot control their alcohol consumption. as in, if it is there...they drink it...if it's not, they don't. it must be at least some 'degree' of alcoholism if there is such a thing, and i often wonder about that. some can obviously go days without drinking, but if it's there...drinks. maybe not all, but more than they should often enough. also many with parents who at the very least had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol at one time. it is an interesting thing to consider...

  • rarely...and never during the week. If I go out to dinner I might have 2-3 glasses of wine (which I love!)...and that's probably once every 2 months or so. I'm sleep deprived, so it usually makes me tired before it makes me drunk :o
