I got sent to collect staff from a local music Venus just now and walked by Bob Dylan. I didn't "meet" him as such, but I thought I'd resurrect this thread anyway.
All my favourite singers have stolen all of my best lines.

Tom Selleck, Jeff Ament, Joseph Arthur, (is Richard Stuveruud considered famous??), Robert Alexander Kennedy Runcie - the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1981 (he caught me when I fell down the stairs at St. Paul's Cathedral a couple of days before the Charles and Di wedding  - he may have saved my life! He told me I should be more careful. ). After that, I've met a bunch of more local or Canadian celebrities, but no one else really interesting I don't think. I saw Matthew McConaughey in a London Drugs once, in the electronics section, but I hid behind a rack of DVDs until he was gone. :fp:

Chadwick, I put your entire post in my personal hall-of-famers.

I've known, seen, almost ran over, met, and spoken with various famous people over the years.

    Know what?

    They're just like....US.

    And us, like them.

    They shit and they stink.

(though I'll concede that some refuse to acknowledge the fact that they shit, let alone that it's stinky)
  • I once spent a night out with Quentin Tarantino in my little German hometown. He shot Inglorious Basterds in Berlin at the time, which is 2 hours from my hometown. A friend of mine worked for him and told him to come over to my hometown to see a band. Two of the band members happen to be really old childhood friends of mine. In the summer, the city is having open air movie showings, and before that a band is playing. They were on that night. A friend called me and said "You have to come here, now!" I didn't know what was going on ... I went there, met a friend, who told me Tarantino has been seen and then met up with my other friend, who got us backstage. Well, there he was, in all his glory. He was drinking beer and having a good time. There were a handful of people there, and I kinda knew them all, it was a little surreal. After a while, I approached him and we talked for a bit and took pics :D Then our group went on to a bar where we filled him up with vodka and lemon juice shots and beer. He didn't have any money on him, so we all paid for his stuff  He was talking with a British accent and was very kind to everybody who approached him to say hello, at least for a while. It was a hilarious night!

He spent the whole weekend in my hometown, and somehow all of my friends seem to have met him while partying. He even went to our little stinky, but cosy punk/techno club and danced his ass off...

I was a little star struck at first, but it was cool talking to him. I am a big admirer of his work and it was super cool to tell him that in person. At the time, my job was to chapter movies for DVDs, and my project were cheesy, hilarious German soft porn movies from the seventies. We talked about that a bit and he even knew one of the actresses. I organized that a couple of dvds were sent to him. Good times :D

Background parts. Yesterday I was a business pedestrian and a dinner patron at a restaraunt in the episode airing Dec. 20. I walked through an office lobby as Donnie Walhberg's partner enters, walked through a subway concourse and was in the background while Walhberg and his TV wife were out to dinner

Cool! I'll watch for you. ;) Also, please tell Tom Selleck that I'm in love with him.:lol: Pretty sure he knew that when I met him by how excited I was, but I was only 7 years old at the time.

As a few others have pointed out, being a NYer means run ins or more than run ins are not infrequent. The first famous person I remember meeting was Jacklyn Smith when I was a tiny girl and she was on Charlie's Angels, so it started awhile back!

A few stories from the years...

Interviewing George Clinton for college radio, and at the end he took my hand and I thought he was going to kiss it... he licked it. Bow wow wow yippee oh yippee aye!

Interviewing Alejandro Escevedo for same college radio station while in his band's van returning from an in-store, and even though someone else was driving, he was the only one who knew the way. So I ended up with a basically unusable tape that's like "Yeah, well, when I was in the Nuns...-RIGHT! TURN RIGHT NOW!!! NOW GET IN THE LEFT LANE!... Ok, sorry, so, what was I saying? THIS EXIT!!!"

Witnessing Lou Reed screaming at his road crew during a soundcheck "WHO LOADED THE FUCKING PIG TRACK INTO THE MUSIC???" RIP Lou!

In '97 I went to see a great folksinger in Missoula MT, during a cross country trip. During the intermission I was going tot he bathroom and saw someone who looked familiar. I was like "How do I know that guy? Did I go to high school with him? How would I know someone from high school all the way out here? Wait, I'm out here..." these were all the thoughts going through my head as I walked up to say "Hey, where do I know you from?" but of course realized at the last possible second "OH!!! Erm, Jeff Ament... not from high school!" You know how you see someone really familiar but out of context, you can totally NOT place them for a second! Plus, I was a PJ fan but didn't know where they all were from, so I didn't know his connection to MT then. He was lovely to talk to, of course!

Once we were at a place called the Bottom Line seeing a Scottish band who, sadly, sucked. But we still found a way to entertain ourselves - Rod Stewart was sitting 2 tables away from us. All night women were walking up and he just looked SO OBNOXIOUS and rude to them. I made a joke that our table should write a note and was egged on by my friends, so I wrote it and walked over and gave it to him. He looked more bored by the minute and almost didn't read it, but then he did read it... and then he read it again with a really first surprised and then annoyed look on his face. One of his friends took it from him, read it, and burst out laughing, and it made it's way around the table and every body laguhed except Rod, he kinda fumed! The note said "Hi, we're with PETA and we are wondering... are any of your hair products tested on animals? If so, we hereby boycott your hair!":mrgreen::mrgreen:

Just yesterday i won a competition to meet Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, David Koeshner and Adam Mckay.

Had A 10-15 minute talk with Paul Rudd. Such a nice guy. He even drew a bass on my I Love You Man blu ray and wrote 'dear brock, keep slappin it'

  • -I worked at the NBA All-Star Game when it was in DC in 2001 and waited on a bunch of players and coaches.
-I used to go to CART/IndyCar races with full credentials in the late 90's/early 00's, so I've met & conversed with many of the drivers.
-A couple baseball players here and there.
-Brett Kiesel was sitting a few rows down from me at the PJ show in Pittsburgh this year and I got a high five when he walked up the aisle.
-Hung out backstage with Lacey Mosley of Flyleaf. She was soooooo shy! It was adorable.
-Oh and I sat down next to David Gilmour in the bar of a Hard Rock Cafe once. He didn't buy me a drink. :?

David Gilmour... insanely talented, but doesn't seem like the warmest, fuzziest guy on the planet... did you talk to him? How was he? I mean, aside from not buying you a drink, damn him!
  • He wasn't very talkative. (And I also don't get starstruck easily.) I was sitting there for about 10 minutes before I even realized who it was. When I acknowledged him, he was just like "Yeah, that's me." I mentioned I had been listening to Pulse non-stop since it was released and he said that was great. I gave him a "nice to meet you" and that was about it. He didn't stay very long after that. He was by no means whatsoever a dick or anything, but you could tell he just wanted to mind his own.
