About the only internationally recognised people I've met are:
    Feeder
    KT Tunstall
    Futureheads
    Bassist from Iron Maiden
    Chris Shiflett from Foos
    Dave Pajo
    Milburn
    The Frames
    Subways
    Foals

and lots of british TV and radio personalities not worth saying here since it'll probably go over most US people's heads.
No one amazingly big but nice all the same. The nicest were The Frames (they gave me pizza!) and KT (she gave me food and beer!). I'm easily bribed.

I met Ed, Jeff, and Mikey after Benaroya, it was the second time I "met" Mike, the first was at Bumbershoot. Tom Morello, Chris Walla (of Death Cab), and Travis Morrison. Got really close to meeting Billy Corgan, but got really nervous and ran off. hahahahha, fucking loser! I could have met Billy Corgan... Hate myself for that. I also happened to excessively eye flirt with Tom Morello at Lolla in 2003. He's a good looking man. Oh yeah, and The Caesars, but they were all a bunch of douches.
Don't let the world bring you down, not everyone here is that fucked up and cold. Remember why you came and while you're alive, experience the warmth before you grow old.

Best two days of my life: Oasis at MSG and Pearl Jam at the Gorge.

I met Ed after the 2003 Toronto show. When I was a kid I met the guy who played Enos on the Dukes of Hazzard.

At Phish's IT festival, actor Bradley Whitford almost ran over my wife & I while he was whizzing around in a golf cart.
  • I met Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips. He talked to me with his hand on my shoulder and other hand on my wrist (I was against the rail). It was kinda odd but cool...he was very relaxed and that made me feel relaxed. Just a quick casual chat. I have always admired him for being bold with his vision and not being afraid to experiment.

The people who know me by name are Jill Sobule, Julia Sweeney, John Doe, Lisa Loeb, Tristan Prettyman, Taylor Hawkins and Chris Shifflett. The ones who know my face... but not my name are Tom Morello and Dave Grohl.
People I have met and had a brief conversation with or bought a beer for are Pete Townshend, Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Matt Cameron, Jack Irons, Nate Mendel, Alanis Morissette, Flea, Chad Smith, Thom Yorke, Ben Harper, Sen-Dog, B-Real, Slash, Wayne Kramer, Josh Homme, Brodie Dalle, Viggo Mortensen, Lemmy, Liz Phair, Sheryl Crow, John Cusack, Elvis Costello, Jello Biafra, Jay Leno, Aimee Mann, Michael Penn, Winona Ryder, Jack Black, Heidi Fleiss, Billy Corgan, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Chris Chaney, Tori Amos, Zach DeLaRoche, Jewel, Jane Wiedlin, Lou Reed, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, Alan Shepperd, Wally Shiara, Jim Halpert and Andy Bernard.
And as a little kid... we used to collect football player autographs (which are now, long gone) and some of the most noteable names were Vince Lombardi, Johnny Unitas, Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, Bart Starr, Archie Manning, Bernie Casey, Roman Gabriel and Jack Snow.
Two people I'd really like to meet: Neil Young and David Bowie.
Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Along with other people, I had an encounter with Michael O'laughlin. He plays for the Sydney Swans, and when they won the grand final in 1005, (first time in 72 years, longest drought in AFL history) the had a parade through the streets of sydney. The streets were filled with well over 100,000 people, well over, and covered in red and white.

I was right near the end of the parade where the swans were going to get the key to the city, and Mickey O gets off the back of the car that was taking them around and he ran straight over to me (like I was a long lost friend) and gave me a massive hug. It was cool, Michael 'Magic' O'loughlin

I'm sure there is a long list of people who met me.
    BRING BACK THE WHALE
  • Ive met Kevin Smith, Tom Waits, Dimebag Darrell, Vinnie Paul and Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) those are the cool ones.

Ive also met Fred Durst(hes really short) and Kid Rock(well i didnt really meet him, he was in an elevator with me). Those are the uncool ones. I also saw Scarlett Johansson, Amy Winehouse, Paris Hilton and Cameron Diaz at Coachella but spotting celebs at Coachella isn't that big of a deal.

Oh and I saw Portia Di Rossi walking down the street here last week.

How could I forget: I met Darth Vader!!! The actor who played him was also the Green Cross Code Man who toured schools and did adverts promoting road safety. Do I win?!

I met Darth Vader too and got his autograph! I havn't even seen Star Wars, but everyone else was making a big fuss about him being there, so I just went along. I think he was there to talk about speciel effects and animations.

The other people I have met are only famous in Denmark.

One does not talk to Mandela. You simply sit there and let him talk at you.

I got him to sign my copy of Long Walk To Freedom :)

Pretty much every WWF wrestler back in 98...my dad was working at the Bryce Jordan Center that night and I was hanging out backstage in his office waiting for him and decided to venture around. Didn't really know a lot of the guys then, but one in perticular was pretty cool and took a picture with me. Later that dude would turn out to be the Rock. It's funny because in the picture I have with him he has this 80's new wave fro thing going.

Also met musician wise.....Axl Rose, Scott Ian, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, the lead singer from 3 Doors Down, Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley and Willie Nelson.
Bob Dylan waved back at me from a distance when he was going to his tour bus in State College....that's probably the highlight though. A wave from Bob Dylan is like a million words.

    Actor wise, just George Clooney.

  • How do you get to meet Eddie and the band? That would be my wish of all time.

At a concert in 1976, Elton John touched my hand and took a stuffed snake from me that I brought him. He laid it on the piano and dedicated "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" to me.

I met Howard Stern at a Mall in Maryland and shook his hand.

I met Sugar Ray Leonard at the 76 Olympics in Montreal and talked to him. He is from Maryland and lived near where I worked.

I had one of the Washington Capitols Ice Hockey players in my Church and our family was friends with them. I forget his name at the moment. I think he got traded later on.

My father was real good friends with the Olympic Russian weightlifters in the 70s, so I got to hang out with them a few times at our house and take them shopping. The most famous one was Vasili Alexeev.

I once almost shared the same toilet as Oprah Winfrey, true story.
Pulled into a little bitty truck stop station with a 1 unisex restroom.
I ask for the key to the restroom, lady behind the counter says
it is occupied at the moment and some huge
mean lookin dudes are looking at me...

    hmmm.. i wait my turn..

    out walks Oprah Winfrey...
I smile, she says hi and they all leave..
The lady workin there goes,, That was Oprah and I got her autograph...
Im like, that's fantastic...(in my sarcastic perfection)

I get the key to the restroom from the cash register lady..
I walk over, unlock restroom door,
I walk in and OH MY GOD
I turned around and walk over to the cash register
lady , handed her the key,,,she says you're fast..
    I said yep,
then i peed out back behind the store in the alley...

That Oprah sure was rotten..wow..she stinks
I wonder what she ate cause that was terrible..
I about fainted only after gaging until puking on myself just a lil bit..

I've met Dean Roland and Joel Koesche of "Collective Soul", too..

I met Axl and Slash...I have cool autographs from them, and was invited to their hotel room.

I met keyboardist Geoff Downes of "the Buggles" and "Asia" and was invited to dinner with him...

I used to go to high school with NY Times bestselling author Malcolm Gladwell -- we were on the same bus together and our parents still live about 2 minutes apart.

I have a scan of my autograph! Slash called me 'really gorgeous' in it!! And Axl said "luv yo' hair"!! It was the 80's and I used to copy the LA bands hairstyles (Motley Crue, etc.). When we first walked by them at the venue, Axl did a double take when he saw me and bumped into the person in front of him! :)

We talked to them for awhile...my sister, brother and myself. Then they invited us to the hotel room. I said "I'm sorry, we don't do hotel rooms". We didn't go!
