Full metal jacket was good. One of the most memorable scenes for me was the gunner in chopper. I just remember thinking that guy is so fucked up and so far gone. Little did I know that apparently I took that scene wrong and that guy is awesome and funny and that's it's totally cool to do that kind of shit.*

*Information obtained from majority of comments read after viewing the scene on youtube.

Yeah that is a fucked up scene.............and there are a lot of bastards on youtube............
  • I hated, HATED Jerry Maguire  Never mind the money, show me the end of the fucking movie already. What a load of garbage that movie was. I also hated Ransom. I am not all that fond of Mel Gibson. I have just never seen what the big deal about him is???

Someone also mentioned "Dirty Dancing". Another movie you couldn't pay me to sit through again.

I am not that fond of musicals either  :o I am probably one of the only women I know that has never seen "Grease" in its entirety nor do I care to.

Well, I talked to people that would never even think about watching a musical. They told me stuff like "Oh, you totally don't even notice that it's a musical at all! It's so dark and graphic! I thought it was awesome and I hate musicals."

Well, I noticed. Which really isn't a big deal. I'm sure there's plenty of movies I like that people think are stupid and such but I'm bored and putting off doing laundry.

there is really only one person i know that can suggest movies for me to watch and i will.......blindly........everyone else though.......I take their suggestions and I research the movie first

It was. I remember at the time people raving on and ON about it  I have NO idea why.

I also didn't care for "The Ring". NA version as I have never seen the original Japanese version which I heard was quite good.

Pulp Fiction. I don't even go nuts over the soundtrack like everyone my age did. Loved the scene where they accidentally blew the guy's head off the in the car though. Cracked me up. Otherwise, eh. Always compare it to Fargo in my head, and PF doesn't even come close.

Also, Austin Powers. That is some of the most inane tripe my I ever allowed my friends to subject me to.

I just watched Godard's Breathless, and while I didn't dislike it, I didn't see the genius either. Maybe someone can explain?
  • lord of the rings sucked

There's nothing genius about it, it's enjoyable enough but it's literally all about trying too hard to be cool and nothing to do with art. That's fine but then it has attained some bizarre cult status as an arthouse classic. It's just about pretty people smoking cigarettes in a sexy way :o

From the films I've seen, Godard is a hack anyway. I read an article in a paper the other day saying that Scorcese owes a lot to Godard, even if his films are simpler and more mainstream. Bollocks. There's more depth in one scene of Goodfellas than in the entirety of Breathless.

"I've never gotten anything out of his movies. They have felt constructed, faux intellectual and completely dead. Cinematographically uninteresting and infinitely boring. Godard is a fucking bore. He's made his films for the critics. One of the movies, Masculin, féminin, was shot here in Sweden. It was mindnumbingly boring."

Didn't Titanic win too? I'd say that's a tie. Oy.
