Pull-ups are the shit.
Any dude at the gym who looks "fit," not just your meatheads that can squat & bench 600 pounds, those dudes do pull-ups and lots of them. I hated them & avoided them for years because they were so hard and straining...there is a reason they are so!
When I saw Will Smith in "I Am Legend" I was like yeah, I gotta start doing pullups. My goal is to get to 3 sets of 10.Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -

Hey Fanch, you should get this:
http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Fitness-DG-Door-Gym/dp/B00029A7C0
And also get the broad reach attachment with it. Make sure it'll fit in one of your doors via specifications..I love this thing..'I want to hurry home to you

Well, I already do pullups at the gym. Do you go to the gym and do some extra pullups at home, or is this device part of your main routine? I've heard of people having a pullup bar at home, and they'd jump up and do a set each time they walked by it. That's a prison type of workout, there! The kind that gets you ripped up.Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -
Anyone have the "perfect pushup" devices? How do you like them?0

I haven't been to the gym since I got married (June 7th, one week after yours I think)..I got sick of paying the membership fee and having to wait for steroid pumping meatheads to finish their cable chest flies underneath the pull up bar...
I'm just looking to maintain now so I hit the pull-ups heavy three times per week..but also do a few sets not to failure every day because it's there..lol...I run/jump rope two or three days per week..and do push-ups, and have a few free weights for the occasional shoulder raises/presses etc..Anyway, just wanted to point this product out because I have had door pull-up equipment before that was total shit, but this is fucking awesome!!'I want to hurry home to you

ha, I took about a month off, but I'm back full-force now. There is a gym less than a mile from where I work, so I hit it at lunch time (and just quickly eat my packed lunch as I work when I get back) so that I can go consistantly MWF and it doesn't affect my personal time at all.
That is a cool-looking device. I'll look into it.
I used to work out with an old-school lifter. He's strong, in shape, doesn't believe in any of that fad shit or supplements stuff. Anyway, he said anyone who is "in-shape" should be able to do 50 pushups in a row and 3 sets of 10 pull-ups (palms-forward).Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -

I use the perfect pushup thing. There really is not much to it. It rotates and it allows you to go a little deeper than a conventional push-up..I like it...picked it up at bed bath and beyond for under 20 bucks..'I want to hurry home to you

I hear you, at my boxing gym most were these old school types (well, aside from the heavy lifting). I've never been interested in getting big..just want to be in the best shape for my frame..The 50 push-ups and 3 sets of 10 pull-ups are a great example of this. I'd also add that you should be able to run/jump rope for at least 30 minutes continuously..sure, the meatheads in the gym have six packs and can barely wipe their butts, but most of them are not really in shape..'I want to hurry home to you

50 pushups is doable but 3 sets of 10 pullups? Christ, I'd never get there.0 -
ajedigecko wrote:when you say 3/10 on the pullups....how much time are you giving yourself between sets?

Normal time, minute and a half or so.
I'm at 3 sets of 5 right now. Hope to be at 3 of 6 by the end of next week!
I saw a dude today doing 3 sets of 10 with a weight harness on, with a 45 lb plate hanging between his legs, doing pullups. That's crazy but the dude was lean and had a cut upper back.Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -

Nah doing 3 at gym (but very high intensity aka spew material) and a couple of days running. Id be happy to gym 5 days but still lifting some reasonable weights so need to recover. I had a massive workout yesterday (including 100 chin ups) so I can hardly hold my pen at the moment and beer in my hand last night was wobbly.
Im doing the City to Surf (14km) and the Oxfam 100km trek so trying to get as fit as possible. I hate running - it bores me to tears.I'll ride the wave where it takes me.0
