Like I said in another thread, I am so very upset by this. He was a great actor. I heard his family in Australia found out listening to the radio.
I haven't felt this upset about a death since Steve Irwin died. It is probably because I am Australian but this is so so sad. I am in shock.

Apparently the last film he made wrapped about a week ago. I can't remember the name of it but the end of it has Heath's character hanging himself. Very bizarre
I can't believe it. It's such a shame, he was so talented.
Dark Knight was going to make him huge.
It's going to make him even bigger. Well, I mean like I'm sure the movie's going to do better now it being his last movie and all. Great actor though.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.
Am I the only one who had no clue who this guy was?
The only movie on his IMDB list that I have seen is 'Ten Things..." and only because I watched them film that movie a block away from the apartment I was living in at the time. Padua High School in the movie is actually Stadium High school in Tacoma, WA. And I used to live right by it. It was really cool watching them film a movie.
i am dissapointed, because i thought he was a very good actor.
i dont know the circumstances but i would rather him be alive than say....
amy winehouse. who got caught on video on a crack pipe, and snorting x, and snorting cocaine, and then told her friends she couldnt go out because she took too much valium.
or the fact that paris, lindsay, britney, or kim kardashian, are still alive.
maybe im just cold....
maybe im just an asshole.......
but....
i find it weird that people here can actually admit to crying over the death of a perfect fucking stranger.....
You'll be lucky to have as many sympathizer as Heath is getting when you're dead. Jesus Christ! I'm not crying and only thing I know about him is he's an actor, did some cool movies. But I don't fucking saying stupid shit like about a dead person.
If you don't care who the fuck he is, then don't say a fucking word.
Yeah, he's famous, now he's dead. Some people out admire him, so they're gonna feel sorry for him.

You should know if you are, no?
I'm not criying over Heath Ledger's death but I can understand people crying... I cry when I see all sorts of sad sad things happening to people I don't even know, it is called empathy and it should spread ...

Will have to bring out the "10 Things..." dvd - The scene at the end with the Cheap Trick cover song is great scenary. Is that really on top of the high school?
I was driving when I heard the news and almost put my foot on the brakes because I was so shocked. Such a great actor...the potential of many more great films gone but more importantly a young dad was taken from his daughter's life way too soon. RIP Heath :(

i just cant seriously shed a tear for someone i dont know.....
all he was to me was some multi-millionaire actor.....
who may have/or may not have......
overdosed on drugs.....
and thats all he is to me......
I cried last night when I saw a show about an unsolved murder of a 13 year old girl who was killed 30 years ago and again when I started watching the next show where a baby was born with two heads and both heads had their own individual emotions, etc, but the one without a body had to be killed in order for her sister to survive (both true stories). I'm a mother and can imagine myself in the situation of being their parents, so I cried.
I didn't cry this morning when I heard about heath ledger (who, by the way, is not a new actor, he's been well known in Australia for a very long time), but I was shocked and saddened and felt like it was a horrible situation, particularly for his young daughter who will never know him and his family in Australia that found out about his death over the radio. He was a human being with a real life, no matter how rich or famous he was. He was young and he had a child and this is a sad situation so I can understand why people might cry. Each to their own.
maybe im just cold....

I don't think you are cold or an asshole, but i do think that sometimes it doesn't hurt to look outside of the circle a bit to see why perhaps some people are affected by his death. The only thing i will say is, he may have been a perfect stranger to most, but there are a lot of people who admired him and felt some sort of connection with him, especially those following the upcoming release of The Dark Knight. He was a brilliant actor, on the verge of really showing everyone how talented he was, he was too young to die and he leaves a young daughter behind. Yes. That's fucking sad. Very. Would you say the same thing if this was Eddie Vedders death we were talking about? I wonder.
I live in the US, but until recently lived my whole life in Australia and Heath Ledger was much loved there. I'm also a huge Batman fan (aka nerd) and have been so keenly following his role as the Joker in the upcoming TDK Movie. Ledger's Joker looks absolutely amazing, i was looking forward to seeing from Ledger, how the Joker is supposed to be. Psychotic, demented, sadistic, murderous, evil. All with a creepy smile and laugh. I was one of the crazy people who woke up in the middle of the night to see the trailer at the exact time it was first shown. How sad that he will not be around to hear/see the accolades that he will surely receive from his role in this movie. Not because he has died, but because he was fucking brilliant.
I feel terribly sad for him, his family and for everyone else who, whether they met him or not, felt like they knew him and felt a connection with him.
He was the best Australian actor of his generation.
I cry whenever they do a story about vets from WWII on the news. Usually its about a forgotten battle or something I didn't know about from WWII. The ending of Saving Private Ryan now that brings me to tears.
Anyway Speedy makes a good point, even if you don't like it. Or in his case give a rats ass.

Nope. The only new movie star I can name nowadays is Scarlett Johansson, and that's because she's made two big impressions on me.
Er, naturally.

He died way to young, and leaves behind a 2 year old daughter. Anyway you look at it that is sad. Some people cry over tragic sad news such as this.
