We didnt pick up players during the trade deadline and now we are paying for it. Some moves for next year are dump Trot Nixon's ass just like I said at the beginning of the year. I am wishing the rumor was true of us getting Andruw Jones, that would have been sweet. I hate to say it but it might be time getting ready for football.

the Yanks had their post-trade dealine "add-crappy overpaid players" boost, and now are being exposed as an overpaid, overhyped, aging team that will choke down the stretch.

Nobody fears the Yankees anymore. The emperor has no clothes on

Pitching wins games in the playoffs, neither of these two teams are solid in that right now. Sluggo teams win games, but not series.

The Red Sox were done the day the got swept by the Royals. Any team that gets swept by them that late in the season should not be in the playoffs.

I am as big of a Red Sox fan as the next guy, and I expected the Red Sox to win one, maybe two of the 5 games against the Yankees.

I still got faith. They got 3 left with the Yanks and 3 with the White Sox. All hope is not lost.

After today's sweep I think we can call this a season. They need to get real hot real quick and the way the needle is pointing is down now, nowhere near up.

Just reviving a dead thread for the off-season. Personally, I hope they don't sign Daisuke Matsuzaka. I really hope it was just a power play to keep the Yankees from signing him. If not, it's gonna be a huge mistake. I'm keeping my eyes on the Clemens situation. I'd like to see him come full-circle and pitch his last year in Beantown.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I'm with you on this one. Let him hit the open market next year and see what he's truly worth. Bore-ass fails to realize that he's more like a restricted free agent than a open free agent.

He wouldn't have been able to land in the Bronx until 2008 at the earliest. It's all a moot point now anyway since it seems the Sox have basically wrapped up negotiations with him and are flying he and Bore-ass back to Beantown to sign him right now. I really hope that they can get Clemens on board. Even if it's pricey, it would be worth it to have a top-notch rotation for a World Series push in 2007.

Final numbers seem to be 6 years/$52 million with incentives that could push it to $60 million. Basically we're paying $103 million over 6 years for a guy that's never pitched an inning in the Major Leagues. I hope this thing pans out.

The Sox have money. No shock there. They have money because depite being in only the 5th largest baseball Market they have a loyal fan base and are agressive marketers.

It doesnt bridge the gap to the Yankees, but it comes damn close. Go Sox!

Did anybody see him on Sportscenter last night. He came out and dropped the first puck and got a standing O for just waving and smiling. Can you imagine if you're a player on the bench and a bunch of people paid to see you play and the biggest ovation you'll hear all night is for this smiling Japanese guy who's been in town for just around 24 hours. This all goes to show the fervor of the Red Sox and how far the Bruins have fallen on the Boston sports totem pole.
