  • I know I'm crashing the Red sox thread but it's because the Indians thread is lame.
I went to the Browns game yesterday with my buddy(who is a major sox fan). We had both stayed up to watch the game saturday night.
    me-happy
    him-not happy
Got to the muni lot to tailgate at 7:00am. Every 15 minutes he started getting pissed about Gagne. He kept saying he was going to go down to the hotel the sox were staying at on sunday evening and wait for Gagne and punch him in the face.

Sorry nothingman44, it was just drunken innocent babble, mission not accomplished.

anyways good luck in the series, hope it goes Indians way though. Might not matter, Colorado is FUCKING HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

this ump's strike zone is ALL over the place ... it's a crap shoot on what a pitch will be called.

The Indians are tough but Wake is a vet.....a tough vet and I have more confidence in him than Dice K. The Sox are in good finger nails with Wakefield. :)

it was like halfway through the game he just said "fuck it" and called anything a ball sometimes and strike the other times.

westbrook pitched a hell of a game and the sox did not take advantage of the bases loaded no outs gift they had in the 2nd.

seriously, the series is indians 2, red sox 1. the way fox was commentating the game, you would think that going up 2-1 in a best of 7 was the death blow or something.

hopefully the sox bats wake the hell up tomorrow against byrd...although wakes it a complete toss up - either total domination wakes, or wakes who gives it up early and often.

this is what i'm talking about. it is only 2-1 people. geez. bunch of pre-04 sox fans showing up...

    stick with wakes. no beckett.

Francona knows his team and knows what he's doing and Wakefield will get the job done. Come back here tomorrow and quote me and Beckett's fastball will look so much more impressive when he pitches especially after the Indians try to hold steady and hit that knuckler.

i totally agree except i put no weight in the fastball pitcher after a knuckleballer thing, esp with a day off in between. beckett will be impressive in game 5 because he is impressive.

i was surprised with the game plan tonight to have daisuke be really fastball heavy when "the book" on the indians is that they're not the best on offspeed stuff. he looked sharp until the (missed location) fastball to lofton and then per usual as of the past couple months, 95+ pitches, 4 2/3rds - 5innings and he's out.

    .

for anyone reading this after the fact, I actually posted this after what I thought was a strike three pitch Dustin Pedroia took, and it was a ball ... I wasn't bitching for the sox, it was an overall comment for both teams.

You HAVE to go with Wakes tomorrow ... you can't get Beckett all warmed up and risk the posibility the game gets called due to rain, then you're really screwed.

WAKES ... find that '03 ALCS magic ...

this is true, forgot about the rain issue and whatnot.
It will be great if wakes pitches a great game tonight to show up all his nay-sayers.
  • That ump sucked balls last night. The sox we're beaten fair and square, but those were some terrible calls on balls and strikes.

    Go with wake.

it was going both ways though. Manny saw 5 strikes in one atbat. It was funny when they showed the pitch track and it was clearly in the strike zone. Hafner also got a strike called on him that was in the other batters box in the 5th inning.

But I know the Sox got some bad calls, but it went both ways.

I really hope the rain stays away. I'm worried about Wakes throwing a wet ball with his knuckler.

Yeah, not a good start. Can't remember the last time the Sox went down on only 8 pitches to start a game.

That was a good first for Wakes.

I really wish though that Fox didn't mention today was the anniversary of the Boone game in the pre-game.
