Games in recent Red Sox history that have been played on October 16th:

1999: Pedro beats Clemens 13-1 and strikes out 12
2003: Aaron Fucking Boone - nuff said
2004: 19-8 Massacre to fall behind 3-0 to the Yanks
2007: Despite back to back to back homers by Youk, Papi and Manny Sox lose to Paul Byrd to fall behind 3-1 to Cleveland
2008: We all know what happened

We should have known something crazy was going to happen last night just by the date.

one of the die hard sox fans here at work told me today that he went to bed during the top of the 7th. i couldn't believe it. i'm a yankees fan, but even i knew that you don't count boston out, especially the last 2-3 innings of the game.

Oh shoot I was at that game too! I had just come from a Bar Mitvah in Cambridge got a standing room ticket, it was awesome to me being back in Beantown.

Didn't watch the game last night but saw the high lights this morning, amazing.

Sox need to jump out early and keep the pressure on.

  • how about the dopes in the crowd who left at 7-0? I watched the game, and said---"they better just keep the shutout (when it was 1st and 3rd, 2 out, ortiz on deck). Don't give these assholes even a thought that they can come back" So what's the feeling about Beckett up there in beantown? Adds to his legacy, or further proof that he's quite overrated

yeah, i'd like to know what sox fans around here feel about beckett right now. of all the sox fans i work with, they all feel really worried because of his last game, but at the same time they all feel pretty confident. so basically, i'm not getting a straight answer from them.

I rather see Beckett on the mound than anyone else on the Sox staff even if he's not fully recovered from his injury.

Beckett's ERA's the last few years

    2006 5.02
    2007 3.28
    2008 4.03

That's no stud ace. but then again, the facts do have a well known Yankee bias

Good enough though to bring home 2 world titles and one of them against the Yankees.

The Sox win tonight and the series will change on a dime, the pressure will squarely be on the RAYS.

If we win, lets just hope Lester brings his A game

I gotta admit, even tho Im diehard Yanks I'll be watching tonite in between the Ranger game commercials hopefully ;)

Yeah if there is a game 7 Lester opens against who i haven't a clue

We need all the players to remember what happened Thursday and need to keep the hot streak alive if there is any hope in getting to a game 7.

I have faith in my Sox we have come back from shit like this 3 yrs in a row now, lets see if it continues

At work again for a night shift and the Sox to keep me company....and hopeing the young people stay quiet so its a peaceful watch.

The way I see it....keep Tampa quiet thru the 1st three with a couple of Sox runs and all will be set for Game 7....which will be live on tv here so wont need to catch it on the pc.

Beckett needs to actually show up for this one, not the pale shadow that's been masquearding as a big league pitcher.

It's all good, it's all Sox!!!!!!
