meh. nobody thought that Chuck vs. Wanderlei would go to a decision either... but it did. and seeing as Keith kicked Chuck's ass... why not?~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~0 -

I knew picking Jardine to upset was a risk but it was really the prelim fights that killed me. I'm never living it down that Shamrocks twin (who knows a minimal amount about mma) beat me!
Congrats on the dominant performance leafs!
thank releash, i got lucky and picked the decisions right for the bonuses....
Don't feel bad at all, my worst is 80 so you are nowhere near as bad as i did. Like i said, you'll be back in 2 weeks to kick our asses
umm who are the shamrock twins?"I'll ride the wave where it takes me"

is it still saturday night?!?!
i fell asleep starting to watch the replay and have been in bed ever since!
anyway, another big congrats to leafs! you almost made the top twenty! how sweet is that?turned out to be the main card blues for me. my pre-lims were excellent and everything went downhill after thiago's win. so i think i am the opposite of everyone else.
everyone remember that the low score record is 15, so we can always feel good to not hold that distinction!0 -

i blame the "random picks", releash!0 -

indeed. you called that one!you might have been the only one, ceg!
i had keith by decision as well. zero points for me there. :( but it was worth the pick, people underestimate keith. wanderlei seemed very emotional to finally get a win, after losing three straight.0 -
...and, oh yeah...:) yet another potential fight of the year at 87...
Mac Danzig vs. Clay Guida at UFC 87
by Dann Stupp and Bruce "PhyteGuru" Huckfeldt
May 25, 2008
"The Ultimate Fighter 6" winner Mac Danzig (18-4-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will look to continue his ascent in the UFC's lightweight division when he meets Clay Guida (23-9 MMA, 3-3 UFC) at UFC 87.
A source close to Guida told MMAjunkie.com that the fighters recently agreed to the August bout.
UFC 87, which now features a main event between UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and top contender Jon Fitch, takes place Aug. 9 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Danzig, a former King of the Cage champ who dominated the sixth season of "TUF," defeated Tommy Speer at the show's live finale. He then dropped from welterweight to lightweight at UFC 83 and defeated Canadian Mark Bocek via third-round submission. It was his 10th submission victory -- and 14th stoppage -- in 18 career victories.
As for the perpetually tested Guida, he gets another tough fight in the UFC. Although 3-3 in the organizatiom, the losses have come to notables Din Thomas, Tyson Griffin and Roger Huerta. He most recently defeated Samy Schiavo at UFC Fight Night 13 with a first-round TKO. Guida, a former Strikeforce champ, will look to put together his first back-to-back wins in the UFC.

yah, i didn't think a decision was that crazy a pick?
i mean, both guys had something to prove... silva, coming off three losses... and jardine trying to prove that his win against chuck wasn't a fluke.
and like i said... chuck vs. silva went three rounds. chuck vs. keith went three rounds...
seemed logical to me!~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~0 -

LMAO!!!
Shamrock's twin is a friend of mine that wanted to join our little fantasy league. It's a funny because he looks and acts NOTHING like Shamrock.0 -

i'm doing pretty good in the picks but not so well in the rounds and minutes lol... I said TKO and that was most definately a KO lol...
great fight for palhares... joe is right on about him, that bjj was incredible. He never gave up on that choke and made salaverry believe that was all he was going to do and then out of nowhere goes into the arm bar. Easily sub of the night, unless bj pulls this one out in the 1st 3 rounds.. if it goes 5 i think sherk will take it
i had to watch this one a few more times.i've been trying to think of how to describe it, as it was almost as if they were on an air hockey table when palhares made the transition and pushed ivan away with his hamstrings. it's like palhares was floating one way, while ivan was floating the other. yep, easily sub of the night.
(although yoshida's was nice, too...but this one was incredibly quick and smooth)0 -

i was wondering if the name meant he resembled ken....or maybe frank? haha
oh, i left some pasta sauce in the freezer in the basement, releash. care to bring that up to the middle floor when you get a chance?:D

i forgot about you mentioning this, leafs.i said to smithers prior to the fight that i thought bj might "caol uno" sherk...then bj mentioned the punch in the post-fight interview...too funny. if only i could predict the outcomes as well as i can the dialogue! haha

hey, i'm doing much better on my PM replies!:D which reminds me, i must go delete some stuff as i'm close to the limit. i'll send out the two pre-lims tomorrow and reply to PM's
the clementi vs. etim match had a great first round and then was a bit stale after that, and the KDH vs. jason tan match was pretty one sided.
i remember kdh being asked in an interview about the rule changes where he wouldn't be allowed to stomp or kick a downed opponent and he said he didn't think it would matter. (he only really used them a few times, and only recently, in his ten fights) he did , however, have a new toy..."ELBOWS!" as the korean announcers were yelling.very effective elbows, especially for someone using them in a match for the first time.
hoping to have the english version of tan vs. dong-hyun by morning but the korean announcers were probably more spirited in their commentary anyway.0 -
leafs4ever wrote:love the preview mookie, i agree that it should be an exciting show and would have been stellar if ninja hadn't have gotten injured. Would be nice to see some ground game but aslong as there are good fight i won't complain.
Gunna be nice to see gina fight, i've only really seen the vid you posted and was impressed. It'll be interesting to see how the media reacts to female mma on mainstream tv.
I agree about the opening fight, i don't know either fighter and by your preview it doesn't sound like i'm missing much. I wish the baroni fight would open the card since this should be able to keep people's attention alot better.
i meant to say thanks before for indulging my preview, leafs!
+1 on ninja. that would have been a great fight. it probably would have meant a little bit of submission attempts too. as it "stands"i can't see too many times in these matches where we'll see the ground unless someone is desperate.
i'm also interested to see and hear the reaction after the carano vs. young match. kaitlin has good muay thai, and her wins have been dominant with knees and high kicks. she won 3 of 4 of those fights against fighters who were fighting in their first night of mma, though. (kaitlin had won one mma match against another debut fighter prior to winning a hookn'shoot three round, one night tournament.) that's why i think this will be or could be fight of the night and surprise some people. there's bad women's mma and there's bad men's mma. same with the good matches. women can be every bit exciting and every bit as technical as the guys...sometimes moreso. as i said, gina's the most technical striker on the card, in my opinion. that's how i think she wins this match, through much better technical muay thai and more experience facing the more experienced fighters. her hands are also way better from what i have seen.
that's a good idea about having baroni as the opener. as much as i dislike him, he always comes to fight and put on a show. i hope i'm wrong about the HW's but i just haven't seen much from the HW division in EliteXC or any of their partner organizations other than antonio silva and the odd "guest" appearance. brett rogers is undefeated, but the fights i have seen from him have been kind of sloppy despite the wins.
in any case, a free show on saturday night!should be very interesting...
