yet another season of the ultimate fighter is nearing conclusion and once again the coaches are slated to meet in a match after the finale. this time for the LHW title. should be a doozie!
sounds like the winner of almeida vs. côté gets the next title shot at MW. tough call on that one!
only nine matches scheduled so far, after a couple were moved to other cards. guess we'll have to see if one or two more are added in the next couple of weeks, or maybe i'm getting spoiled with the 11-fight cards. hoping to see the miller vs. gurgel match on the PPV. jorge told us his gameplan in montreal...."i'm going to win. "

nope not even close lol... i watched the 1st fight and saw the crazy gogo you mentioned (awsome), then passed out lol. I'm going to watch both shows today, i've heard the elite show was good so hopefully dream was good aswell. Kind of pissed at Nick for coming in 9LBS OVER WEIGHT wtf???? I'm a huge diaz fan and just can't believe that he did this. Disgraceful!!! I also heard about what happens at the end, can't wait to see that
09/19/05, 05/09/06, 05/10/06
i'm happy you caught the first match, leafs. it was incredible! aoki never ceases to amaze. nagata never saw it coming and i don't think anyone else did either!
i'd classify the elitexc show as somewhat forgettable, and the dream show as very good. just my opinion. keep in mind i am grumpy and running on little food and sleep. i must say, though, ninja is looking great again and rafael feijao looks promising for elitexc, despite wayne cole not really looking like he was there the fight. kj noons' dad, on the other hand, looked ready to go...they really have to stop doing that in elitexc - putting the two guys who just fought that night and hate each other into the same cage with all their entourage?! who knew there'd be trouble at that party? anyway, worth checking out at least once, eh?
otherwise...onto the dream show...
a couple of great fights, a couple of excellent finishes, a disappointing one, and one that was very sad. (last one :( ) probably a final four that no one would have predicted.
the LW tourney semi's were also drawn last night and the matches look outstanding...
Caol Uno Vs. Shinya Aoki
Tatsuya Kawajiri Vs. Eddie Alvarez
can't wait for dream 5! i'd expect, at first glance, that the winner of aoki / uno should be sitting pretty, as alvarez and kawajiri are most likley to take a lot of damage in their match. the winner of that one will have a tough time getting through a fresher uno or aoki in the second match. then again, maybe alvarez or kawajiri gets a quick ko or tko, and uno and aoki are in a full time grappling match that wears on them for the second match...you never know...
it will be headlined by the rematch between scott smith and robbie lawler, once again for the MW belt. i'd also look for antonio silva to make an appearance, as they'll likely want to introduce him to the audience that doesn't know him before he wins the HW elitexc belt this fall. (i'm making the assumption ) there should be a TBA vs. shayna baszler match on the card too, that will probably be the # 1 contender match for the women's 145 lbs. title vs. gina carano in the fall. jake sheilds was also supposed to face drew fickett for the WW title, but i think fickett may be out with an injury again. they've been trying to set that one up for several shows now, so they may have jake match up with someone else here.
i think this one is an hour and a half, as well...personally, i'm hoping it's jeremy may. it could be any one of a number of these characters, though. oh, the drama!!!
Put me in as saying it was CB. Maybe i`m just hoping cause i really don`t like him, but ya CB broke the window
09/19/05, 05/09/06, 05/10/06
true enough! haha it's like stone cold and vince mcmahon all over again!
yeah, sorry to set your expectations low with my previous post, leafs. now that you've seen the show, you can see that i was mostly upset that yves lost. :( ...and the way that he lost. noons was all over him after hurting him with that first punch.
yeah, nick looked a little flat out there again. i kept thinking head kick! when corbbrey was doing all the bobbing and weaving. even if it didn't land it would have stopped him from moving around so much, and it's not like nick should be worried about the takedown. oh well, he gets his rematch now against noons and we'll see what happens there after the post show "festivities".
so it looks like we've got one for cb, one for jeremy, one for "coco the monkey" and perhaps a wwe crossover for the guesses on the last episode...:D

Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin to headline July 19 UFC event
MMAjunkie.com
Jun 17, 2008
UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (21-4 MMA, 6-0 UFC) will make his light-heavyweight debut and take on veteran fighter James Irvin (14-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC) at a July 19 UFC event.
MMAjunkie.com confirmed the fight this afternoon with a source very close to the event; it was first reported today by MMARated.com. MMAjunkie.com has also confirmed that the event will be titled UFC Fight Night 14 (and the Sept. 17 Spike TV event will now be titled UFC Fight Night 15).
The event, which will air on Spike TV, was only recently put together -- likely to combat Affliction's star-studded debut "Banned" show, which features a main event between Fedor Emelianenko and Tim Sylvia.
Additionally, Dave Meltzer is reporting that UFC president Dana White has confirmed the Silva-Irvin fight and also that Hermes Franca (18-6 MMA, 5-3 UFC) vs. Frankie Edgar (8-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) -- a fight originally scheduled for UFC 87 -- will be added to the July 19 fight card.
On Monday we passed along reports of the possible event. Although Brandon Vera vs. Wanderlei Silva had been considered as a main event, Silva reportedly wasn't physically prepared for the bout.
Instead, the event will feature Silva, who's proven to be nearly unstoppable in the UFC's 185-pound division. Insiders say the UFC had briefly considered matching Silva up with former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell, though the bout never came to fruition. He'll now fight Irvin in a non-title fight. The selection of the veteran Irvin is peculiar, to say the least.
Irvin, who made his UFC debut in 2005, is 5-3 in the organization and 3-1 in his past four UFC fights. He most recently defeated Houston Alexander with an eight-second knockout (via Superman punch). However, he's never been considered one of the division's top contenders, and on a few occasions, openly stated that he was possibly one loss away from losing his UFC contract.
The event will take place in Las Vegas, most likely at The Palms Casino Resort.
On the same night, "Affliction: Banned" will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. In addition to Emelianenko and Sylvia, the fight card features notables such as Josh Barnett, Matt Lindland, Andrei Arlovski, Ben Rothwell, Renato "Babalu" Sobral and others. The event airs on pay per view with a $39.95 price tag.
Official announcement of the UFC event could come on Wednesday. UFC President Dana White is expected finally to announce the "big news" he's been trumpeting for the past few weeks. He's reportedly revealing the news to employees at 3 p.m. ET (noon PT) and then to the public.
According to multiple sources, the announcement could include the confirmation of a new ownership group. MMAPayout.com reports that it could be Bertelsmann Media, a German based international entertainment company.

i change my prediction to jess getting kicked off and Amir/CB being the final. Is it too late to change my prediction??? lol
edit: damn that cut under amir's eye was huge
09/19/05, 05/09/06, 05/10/06
yup it was coco... what a freaking idiot. Hoping for CB/Amir final now
09/19/05, 05/09/06, 05/10/06
I have officially recovered most of the way from Bonnaroo. It's been a crazy couple of weeks for me, so I missed a couple of the TUF episodes. But I'm looking forward to this Tim vs CB fight to see who will replace Jesse Taylor in the finals!
if you missed some of the shows there is a marathon on spike on saturday replaying the season...
09/19/05, 05/09/06, 05/10/06
Thanks for the heads up on the marathon. I'll have to tivo the episodes I missed since I have to work on Saturday, but I'll be off in time for the finale show.
that was great! i was thinking that amir was on his way to losing the fight, and then the armbar!
another good one going on now after the weird circumstances with jesse. ceg, you called it! (you too leafs )
...and welcome back releash! nice to have your professional opinion back "roo"! look forward to hearing about the show. ")
I really hope that these 2 fights made CB lose a bit of his ego. He got caught in the 1st fight because he even said that he underestimated Amir and left the arm in there. Don't ever underestimate, he should have learned a huge lesson there. The 2nd fight he fought a guy who he should have killed on the feet and didn't. He did great in the 2nd fight by using his takedowns to literally win the fight for him.
Should be a great fight in the finale and i'm pretty sure i'm going to go with CB by decision.
09/19/05, 05/09/06, 05/10/06
ya that's what i was thinking. After such an intense show that PJ put on, i figured Sigur Ros would be a perfect way to end the end. Even more envious you saw 2 of my top 5 favourite bands ever in the same night.
09/19/05, 05/09/06, 05/10/06
+1 over here on pretty much all of that. tim was pretty impressive with his stand up. looked like he'd been working it a lot after the show. very surprising.
i'm looking forward to this rematch at the finale!
...i'm going to go with amir, though
