another fantastic match has been added, though...nate diaz vs. kurt pellegrino, so that makes 11 fights! so, from what i understand they're re-working the tv main card, but since maynard vs. edgar was the swing before, i'd have to say nate vs. kurt and gray vs. frankie will be the two that get "adjusted" to the main card...if i had to guess. you're right, though, an extra hour means extra commercials...TUF7 for sure...UFC 83 ...the jlo one ceg mentioned, girls gone wild , and video games...can't forget the video games!
ahhh, too many good fights!!
ugh, the video game commercials. :( I could really do without seeing the Call of Duty 4 one again.
Edit: I just noticed that I am finally over 1,000 posts. I'm nowhere NEAR you guys in terms of post count though
first off, congrats releash on 1000 post, still aways to go for me.
so fight night is looking awsome, i just don't understand why they are adding more fights to this card when 83 only 8 fights. I'd be expecting 2 more to be added, any rumours on this? I'm not going to complain ofcourse, i mean, 2 cards in the same month that look like this is great.
"I'll ride the wave where it takes me"
09/19/05, 05/09/06, 05/10/06
+1 on the congrats to releash on the thousandth post!
leafs4ever, it looks like they're going with a minimum of ten fights per card from now on, instead of the former nine per card.
82 has 10 fights, 83 has 10 fights, and the fight night in colorado has 12. that fight night card is absolutely incredible!
here's "our" card. maybe we'll get lucky and have an eleventh added as well.

thanks mookie and Releash!! i just noticed it's my 4 year anniversary as well... 1000 posts a year... hehehe....
hey Releash, i just noticed your new sig.... i love it! reminds me of finding a PJ bootleg at a cool little record store in Vancouver back in '94, and being so bloody excited to hear an un"releash"ed track...
~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~

Congrats on the 4 year anniversary too, Ceg!
As for my new sig, Angel came up on shuffle on my iPod last week and I've been listening to it nonstop ever since. I love rediscovering a PJ song. That what's great about them having such a large catalog. I'm always a fan of the un"releashed" material. Thank God I had most of my more rare PJ stuff on my ipod when my hard drive crashed. Since I am an idiot and didn't have anything backed up, I could have lost a bunch of my favorite songs.
just about a week away! i can't wait for this show. got my picks in...still waiting for my team tanner shirt and trying to decide between a submission or tko win. evan has been working a lot of muay thai...hmmm....
i could be up shit's creek with nary a paddling device to be found on this one...:D
Dan Henderson Vs. Anderson Silva - henderson by tko
Cheick Kongo Vs. Heath Herring - kongo by tko
Evan Tanner Vs. Yushin Okami - tanner by tko
Jon Fitch Vs. Chris Wilson - fitch by submission
Alessio Sakara Vs. Chris Leben - sakara by ko
Pre-lims:
Andrei Arlovski Vs. Jake O'Brien - arlovski by ko
Luke Cummo Vs. Luigi Fioravanti - cummo by tko
Josh Koscheck Vs. Dustin Hazelett - hazelett by submission
Diego Sanchez Vs. David Bielkheden - sanchez by decision
Jorge Gurgel Vs. John Halverson - gurgel by submission
I think this one has fight of the year written all over it. Both of these guys are machines and this will be exciting. I too hope that Henderson gets a win, but Silva is a respectable champion and this will be great fun either way. It is also nice to see Tanner back, hope he can get back into the title picture.

i'm going to have to get my picks in soon!! i'll do them this weekend for sure.

make sure you guys give me a good play-by-play to read the next day!!
~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~
:( sorry to hear that you'll be missing this one again, ceg. it's a good thing you have some fine excuses, though! ice fishin' and the dad's birthday festivities...yep, good times, i would say!
i hope i can find some mpegs again for you the next day, but we'll do our best to re-create the broadcast here. off to practice "goldberg and rogan"-isms...
Sorry to hear you are missing this one Ceg! Have fun with your Dad!
Mookie and I will do our best to give you a worthy play by play. Although I'm not sure who will be Rogan and who will be Goldberg. I'll let mooks pick.
Just think, you'll be seeing the next event LIVE! Vas y GSP!

no, serious business, ceg, we'll let you know how it goes.

just thought we might need those "ingredients" to get to their "level" by the end of the night...:D
Goldberg: "tonight's clock is brought to you by...wait!?!? the fight is over?!?!...i mean....It's AAAALLLL Over!"
Rogan: "eddie bravo and i were talking about this earlier...about how hard it is to submit a guy with these gloves on...there are so many ways now to defend the rear naked choke and guys know this....oh, wait, he's sinking his hooks in...he might have it...he's got the choke! Fans asked for it, Tanner is finally ready to deliver with a return to octagon at UFC 82

For a time, Evan Tanner (32-6 MMA, 11-4 UFC) was perhaps the most popular fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
A clean-cut, intelligent and humble all-American who shattered every preconceived notion of an "ultimate fighter," it was easy to root for him. Even among UFC fighters, he was a role model — the big brother the younger guys wanted to emulate.
When he won the UFC's middleweight title in 2005 — his eighth victory in nine fights — the 37-year-old fighter reached the zenith of his success and popularity. However, he'd lose his title and two of his next three fights, and an unfortunate and all-too-public downhill slide began.
Tanner hasn't competed in the UFC (or anywhere for that matter) since an April 2006 fight with Justin Levens. A well-documented battle with alcohol — one that Tanner himself continually wrote about on his Web site — kept him too busy for any battles in the cage.
As the UFC's middleweight division was slowly depleted of talent, and as new champ Anderson Silva continued to separate himself from the pack, the rumblings began. The fans wanted Tanner back in the octagon.
Rumors of his possible return came and went. Rumored fights even heated up — only to be extinguished by the UFC or Tanner himself.
Then, in November, the Texan announced he had signed a four-fight deal. Now, his long-awaited return is set for the Saturday, March 1 UFC 82 event at Columbus' Nationwide Arena.
He could have competed sooner, but the UFC had a problem: no one wanted to fight him. "They approached four guys about a fight, and all four declined it," Tanner said.
For most fighters, it was a no-win situation. Despite Tanner being a former champ, a victory over him would do little to help a fighter's stock in the division. And a loss could be downright disastrous.
As it turns out, the only fighter willing to step in and take the bout was arguably its top contender: Yushin Okami (20-4 MMA, 5-1 UFC).
Although the fight didn't receive top billing, don't be surprised when Saturday's crowd treats Tanner's return like the night's main event.
looks like we have our 11th match for montreal, but it's not a LW match...sorry, ceg...:(

THEN... i swear i posted these yesterday, but the post seems to have disappeared!!
i don't think this bodes well... the universe is telling me there is something wrong with these picks....

a night of submissions? i'll take it!...especially the tanner submission. :D
good luck defending the title, ceg. they're just messing with you at the fantasy site to throw you off your game. they've seen your prognosticating abilities! now, you've got me re-thinking my decision picks...hmm...

there was a fantastic interview with jon fitch earlier tonight on the fight network's "one on one". unfortunately, i only caught the second half, but they're showing it off and on during the week, as well as a "one on one" episode with andrei arlovski.
releash, if i can find the video of the fitch interview, i'll post it for you. i seem to remember you saying you were somewhat of a fan.

Thanks mookie! I don't get the fight network despite paying comcast an exorbitant amount of money each month. Fitch is probably my third favorite fighter after GSP and Gray. I'm a little surprised he isn't getting a better fight this time. He has obviously already proven himself by beating some of the top guys in the weight class.
dad birthday plans have been rescheduled for tomorrow night.... drinks and jazz club, instead of dinner and dancing.....
UFC 82 is ON!!
boo ya!
the party sounds bad ass, and i'm very happy you'll be joining us for this one! on paper, this one looks stellar.
i just got an email from dan chrisiton's wife, who is managing evan's team tanner undertaking and she said my t-shirt is in the mail, so i'm hoping i get it before saturday so i can wear it for the show...would be nice to wear it to columbus, but i'll wear it to montreal and get my picture taken with all the MW's wearing my tanner shirt beside them.
she said they have a surprise for evan that she wants me to take part in so she's going to give me a buzz tonight to tell me about it. not sure what she has lined up...always something up her sleeve, that one. i'm guessing she wants a few of us to give evan a call on friday and wish him luck. we did the same for dan when he fought frank mir, but it didn't work out for him that time.
anyway, great news, ceg! smithers won't be angered now at me for running to the computer in between rounds to give "detailed" analysis! haha i'm hoping to get a few "wow! that was a beautiful submission!" posts in there. night of submissions!
