Calm down young jedi. I don't believe that people on here loathe her. All I'm saying are people like her that would be nothing without the privleges should be called on it from time to time. You were asking how Letterman is different than Paris. Dave made it and continues to make it work because he has the skills to do so. You bring up Bush? Who more than Bush gets ridiculed for being in a position that they do not belong in? For which I believe is fine as well. I don't think anyone loathes her as much as they (myself included) just enjoy the comedy that is her recent and VERY PUBLIC life - from making STUPID mistakes and getting thrown in jail because of those STUPID mistakes.

Again, if she doesn't want the public to talk about it - then she shouldn't be in the public eye and she shouldn't give the public so much to talk about - and she shouldn't go on talk shows.

i think you underestimate her. how many people have thrown around all kinds of derogatory language about her as a person in this thread alone?

people in the public eye don't have much control. it took pearl jam years to get normal lives back and it cost them much of their career. given her line of work, that's not really an option for her. she needs a high profile when selling a brand name. i get the impression she is TRYING not to give so much to gossip about but nobody is willing to give her a chance. and when i watched that video, she seemed more than willing to talk about it, she just wanted the chance to also talk about her more positive doings as well. the things you don't want to hear about becos it takes away your ability to talk shit about what a worthless person she is and make you feel better about your own life.

they do. becos when you have jackasses like bush that are REALLY worth getting angry about becos when they take advantage of their privileges it hurts all of us, it makes no sense for people to get riled up about a rich girl doing rich things and be outraged about that. it's just a mindless distraction and im a little bit disappointed to find that even pearl jam's fans, who i would think are a bit better than that, still get swept up in the whole "let's distract ourselves with the latest juicy *insert celebrity of the moment*" gossip game.

I think you are taking this a little too serious, soulsinging. Who (that matters) brought up her "worth as a human being" in regards to Dave asking her about her jail time?

soulsinging - this is just about laughing at a Letterman interview. This board is hardly obsessed with Paris Hilton - we are probably more obsessed with Letterman than Paris.

Yeah, I agree with you that wishing death on a celebrity is taking things a little too far over the edge. And I would bet that when people say that - they are just not smart enough to express their feelings any other way.

Yeah, when PJ was on SNL and I think Lindsey Lohan was the host - people were all in uproar because she was the host with the almighty and infoulable Pearl Jam. I found that quite ridiculous.

and that's the sort of thing im talking about. the way people spoke, you'd think she's the spawn of satan. it's insane. i felt this was going the same way as it seemed to start more as a hate on paris thing than a love for dave thing.
