And Robin makes me crazy. I know it is all in fun but to sit there and let Howard pick on women and african americans just seems weird to me.Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome

Yes, she did take it very calmly. I'm sure she wanted to burst out crying during all the laughter of the audience! And so the lion fell in love with the lamb...,"

Dude, Dave is still on TV because after almost 30 years on TV, he still brings it almost every night and he has millions and millions or viewers.
If you think this is the first time Dave has made a guest squirm on his show, you are about 20 years too late to the party. This Paris interview was quintessential Dave.
Desperate to get laughs? According to folks right here - most thought that was some funny shit. And I don't think that after almost 30 years Dave is desperate for anything.0 -
he's busting on her. you can always tell when dave likes someone or even respects them vs not.
he's making a point..as in, here's this heiress...what's she done...i'm gonna talk about her being in jail because there's nothing else.
he can be a bastard sometimes but its funny and thats what comedians do and i love it when they push the limits.0 -

good point. i remember that when dave was her age, he was already accepting his first nobel peace prize. now THERE is a man who has made huge contributions to society!0 -

its entertainment not rocket science.0 -
for those of you that feel sorry for this useless person, let me ask ya.....what is dave supposed to talk to her about?....she doesn't do anything besides go to clubs......the biggest thing in her life was going to jail and that happened recently.....you expect dave to ignore that? and if you think he was harsh, then you are probably too young to have seen dave in his prime....he let her off easy....:)0

The thing people forget is that she's clueless because of they way she was bought up i.e completely spoiled by parents who never told her no - is it any wonder she's self-centred and deluded? I think Letterman was taking a real cheap shot, it would be no different if he got a homeless guy on there and took the piss out of his cardboard box.0 -
Hmmmm...
Dave Letterman is still the number one show on late night!
Jay Leno is number 2..
Dave has one lots of Emmy's
but his show is hardly watched....weird!
Too funny!!
It was hilarious and Paris DID get ripped because she was on there to promote another god awful movie that she gets killed in and to promote perfume that smells like RAID! LOL

She said she was there to talk about her movie, music and new perfume. I don't think it was out of place to ask her about the whole prison thing, but that's pretty much all he asked her about and he used it all as an excuse to ridicule her.0 -
He did the same thing to Martha Stewart and Hugh Grant after their incidents. The thing is, they actually could laugh at themselves and it was all good and fun. Paris just wants to act like she is some huge victim and just wants to promote some lame product.0

Oh come on he was relentless. I'm sure she wouldn't have agreed to do the show if she thought he was just going to have the piss taken out of her. And so what if she was promoting a lame product, loads of celebrities have perfumes now, plus she was there to talk about her film. I'm not a fan of anything she's ever done, by the way, I just thought it was plain mean.0 -
I don't think Dave was out of line to ask her those questions. For one thing, this is part of his schtick and it always has been. (He's actually softened up a lot since his old NBC show!)
The other thing is that, frankly, Paris' infamy is really the only reason most people care about her. Her infamous acts have made her a household name. The only reason she even has a perfume and a movie, etc, is that she does things that people love to hate.0 -

Yep, poor Paris, she treats everybody with the upmost respect, and in return, should be treated the same way.0 -

how does this differentiate dave from paris?0 -

he also questioned them, then moved on. she was kept on the spot the whole interview.0 -
Paris is a stuck-up snob and Dave exploited that by brilliantly only (for the most part) focusing on her jail story and by telling her that this could be her legacy.
How does what Dave does and what Paris does differ? Dave gets paid an ass-load of money to be funny on TV and have a talk show. Paris is funny for reason's she doesn't get paid for.
Dave's the best - Leno wouldn't have the balls to do this on his show.0 -

Doesn't stop it being a cheap shot "wow look at me, I can take the piss out of someone less intelligent than me" - sad.0 -
How anybody can say Dave isn't funny and Paris didn't deserve what she got is beyond me. How can anybody stick up for her? She's a very high profile person and has to know that there's going to be consequences to her actions. What got you guys? The pouty face she made when she said she was sad? Dave is in the entertainment business....and THAT was entertainment. Besides, do you think she's really going to give a shit about the whole thing when she rakes in another few million for doing absolutely nothing? Don't feel sorry for Paris. She doesn't need anyone's sympathy."Everyone is a patriot in some form or another.... i prefer the intelligent ones."
