no, i just don't think it's fair to pass judgment on someone's character and worth as a human being (one who they do not know and will never meet, no less) just becos they happen to have the misfortune to have their dirty laundry hung in the public eye. i'm not a bad person, but i'd hope that i'd not be judged by my fuckups and my fuckups only.
I think you are taking this a little too serious, soulsinging. Who (that matters) brought up her "worth as a human being" in regards to Dave asking her about her jail time?

becos it takes away your ability to talk shit about what a worthless person she is and make you feel better about your own life.
Stop putting words in my mouth. I have never said she was a worthless person. Again, I think you are taking this all too seriously. I bet Paris herself is well over it by now.

it's just a mindless distraction and im a little bit disappointed to find that even pearl jam's fans, who i would think are a bit better than that, still get swept up in the whole "let's distract ourselves with the latest juicy *insert celebrity of the moment*" gossip game.

Dude, who is outraged?!?!? As far as what we discuss on the AET, if not mindless babble, then what?

perhaps not you, but it has been said on here many times and i find it pretty sick. not just with paris. i recall one poster literally wishing death upon lindsay lohan. come to think, im quite sure i read the same about paris here on occasion. and it was written with disgust, not jest. it's a trend i notice too much and find disturbing. so any time i see a "let's gang up and laugh at someone else's misery" post, i get touchy. it's sick.

they do. becos when you have jackasses like bush that are REALLY worth getting angry about becos when they take advantage of their privileges it hurts all of us, it makes no sense for people to get riled up about a rich girl doing rich things and be outraged about that. it's just a mindless distraction and im a little bit disappointed to find that even pearl jam's fans, who i would think are a bit better than that, still get swept up in the whole "let's distract ourselves with the latest juicy *insert celebrity of the moment*" gossip game.
soulsinging - this is just about laughing at a Letterman interview. This board is hardly obsessed with Paris Hilton - we are probably more obsessed with Letterman than Paris.

Truthfully - I couldn't careless about Paris Hilton or her life. This was just a funny Letterman clip....and I stand by my opinion. And I respect you for yours.

Yeah, I agree with you that wishing death on a celebrity is taking things a little too far over the edge. And I would bet that when people say that - they are just not smart enough to express their feelings any other way.

Yeah, when PJ was on SNL and I think Lindsey Lohan was the host - people were all in uproar because she was the host with the almighty and infoulable Pearl Jam. I found that quite ridiculous.

and that's the sort of thing im talking about. the way people spoke, you'd think she's the spawn of satan. it's insane. i felt this was going the same way as it seemed to start more as a hate on paris thing than a love for dave thing.

Wasn't PJ done makin their much anticipated debut album, by the time Nirvana hit it big. Nirvana made grunge, Pearl Jam made grunge humongous.

I am more on soulsinging's side of the Paris argument. They need to leave all those chicks alone. The paparazzi are ruining lives.

How is that not illegal. I know people wanna know about celebs but there are better ways.

That was very funny. She didn't come across as an idiot but she was squirming but kept with it.Loved the possible jail bird callling out Love You Paris.Havn't seen Davis Lettermen show before. Is he always so ruthless? If so guess the guests know what they are getting into.

She just seemed totally void of personality. All of her responses were more like prepared statements or literal descriptions. The way out of a situation like that is to be slippery and metaphorical. Dave's agenda was to make Paris look like a spoiled child who's been handed everything including her fame, and he succeeded in doing just that.
