I was somewhat surprised Berard was released. He had a good preseason.
No cap room. Ed Moran also says that we are already carrying 49 out of the allowable 50 contracts. I think it was part of the numbers game on D. As of now it's: Timonen-Coburn

Eminger-Parent
Kukkonen-Sbisa
Berard is a nice story, and while he looked good in preseason, the guy has no history of being able to play actual defense since the eye injury. We don't need a strictly offensive D-man who is a turnover machine in his own zone. Every one of our current roster, except maybe Kukkonen and Vaananen, are reliable, good puckmovers. All can play in their own end too.
I think Sbisa's the most interesting case. He's been fantastic, playing well beyond his years in the preseason. I imagine they'll keep him up for his 10 games before sending him back to junior, especially since there are some minor injuries on D right now.
Just heard that Sarah Palin will be dropping the first puck at the game on Saturday... just an FYI to anyone going to expect tight security. Not trying to start A Moving Train discussion.

Exactly. That's my point. We've got another 8 fucking months of this shit - the least you can do is expend all your energy on a sport that could end with a title in 3 weeks!!! Who gives a flying fuck about the first game of 100+(because they're going to the finals) in 3 days when you're in the middle of a pennant chase?! Well, I partially take that back because this game is being played on Saturday and there's no playoff game nor football game. Making for a nice weekend!!

Anybody else feeling for JJ right now? The guy's doing radio for the Phils and tv for the Flyers. I'm sure he wouldn't have it any other way, but the poor guy's never gonna sleep. I fear the mustache up-keep might suffer.
