The flyers weren't winning a cup with just those players. Like Johnny said, colorado had sakic and nolan...not to mention some dude named patrick roy.

Lindros got the flyers to a cup. Things didn't work out there, but the trade did. I agree with pjhawks that the corestates center was built by lindros. I remember going to a game his rookie year. every time he got the puck everyone stood up and watched in awe. the guy was unbelievable...brought meaningful hockey back to philly.

I'd make that trade every time. Even knowing the outcome

He was so thrilling to watch. Such a force of nature. No one could've foreseen the concussion thing - concussions weren't really an acknowledged issue in 1992.

I still have the Daily News from the day Larry Bertuzzi awarded Lindros to the Flyers "ERIC IS OURS!".

Even when he came back for that NJ series in 2000, with all the rust, he was awesome in that Game 6 while everyone else stood around and watched him.

I vividly remember him shelving that goal in game 6...right after the horn sounded, so it didn't count. kind of ironic to think about that moment and his career. lot of parallels.

    I loved that guy

imagine how amazing Eric would be under today's rules. virtually unstoppable. He'd be Malkin but with a lot more desire and effort. to bad he played in the ridiculous clutch and grab, get a one goal lead in the playoffs and could murder someone and not get a penalty call era. depressing to think about. so cool to see Holmgren bring him back for the Winter Classic and have him skate with the team in Toronto. maybe Eric can come back for the parade :D

actually he'd be in the penalty box the entire time since you're not allowed to touch anyone anymore. dudes used to bounce off of him like bowling pins. I hate how the physical aspect of sports is being eliminated. pussification of america personified

I saw they made the other banners look all fancy like Mark Howe's.

I think that's weak. I liked the old school look with just the orange and black name/number

    Yeah, me too.

That late goal in Game 6 was the worst.

We could beat the Devils in 5 more playoff series and it still wouldn't make up for those 1995 & 2000 series.

    totally agree.

I remember exactly where I was when claude lemeiux, scott stevens, and patrick elias all happened (granted 2 of the 3 were the same place, but still...feels like yesterday)

Easily 3 of my worst sports memories, right up there with Rhonde Barber and Chris Carpenter.

And I had a well-meaning female friend who came over towards end of Game 7 in 2000 and couldn't stop talking about how cute Scott Stevens was. We were heading on a road trip to Toronto that night, we got there the next morning and Lindros getting crushed is all over the papers. And it slowly dawned on me that we really were not going to be playing in the Finals.

I'd add juan uribe to that list. patrick kane. joe carter. ok, that's enough

2000 was like a weeklong kick to the balls. I watched game 7 (games 5 and 7 were in philly...further proving my home ice theory) by myself in my college apartment. Went up to long island for one of my friend's college grad party the day after. Back then I had a flyers sticker on my car. Driving up the NJ turnpike I had a few people honk at me, point, and laugh. fuckers...thinking about this really makes me hope the flyers sweep

Flyers combined home record in 1995 & 2000 NJ series: 1-6.

    So far in 2004, 2010 & 2012: 6-0.

'95 was crazy. flyers lost first two at home, won next two in NJ, then well, we know the rest.

bad memories. how the hell did we get on this topic? talking about the 2012 team is a lot more fun than this

Flyers will be on 97.5, not sure if it starts now or next season. Apparently they weren't happy with Wip leaving the Phillies game on fm yesterday.

I think this is being made into a bigger deal than it really is. Everybody is hurt this time of year. Timmonen is a mess.

    610 signal is a lot stronger than 97.5. I don't get it.

Anyway, I saw kovalchuk may not play tonight. I don't think it matters. I think tonight gets ugly. 6-2...brodeur doesn't even come out for the third after giving up 5 goals thru 2

that woudl be awesome, but we all know how playoff hockey works...you never know what is going to happen.

i think the flyers are the better team and should win, but you could say the same thing about the rangers and they lost last night.

i would just like to see zero soft goals and a flyers win

Big loss for them even though he played like crap in game 1.
