so what does everyone think about this playoff series? My expectations are pretty low. I like the moves the flyers made last offseason. Loved richards, but both the richards and carter trades look like wins for the flyers. I'm not sure these young guys are ready to beat a team as talented and physical as pittsburgh though. Not having pronger and meszaros (to a lesser extent jvr) really hurts them. Bryz being banged up doesn't help either.

Hate to say it, but I think it's pens in 6. I really, really, really hope I'm wrong here.

If we get the Bryz of the last six weeks we'll win

If not it could get ugly

@billmeltzer: Flyers brought in Jagr hoping to replace Ville Leino's 19 goals, 53 points last season. They got 19 goals, 54 points from Jagr in RS.

    How bout that

I wonder if Homer brings him back next year

i see no reason why the flyers can't get past the Pens....will they? who knows.

gotta get Grossmann back, and Iyla needs to play like he was playing when he was the goalie of the month for march.

If the Flyers play a controlled game and hit the body, i don't see why the Flyers can't beat the pens. Fluery has not played well against the Flyers and has a below .900 save percentage.

I do think the Flyers are going to need some players back. I know JVR is not going to play but I think we need Danny back and also grossmann back. if we get those 2 back in will be very interesting.

In other Flyers news, The Flyers signed Grossmann to a contract extension. but i have not heard any details.

playing good D is the key and grossmann had been doing that before he went down.

One of the main concerns for me is how many rookies we have

The playoffs are another level of play from the regular season

Hopefully they can elevate their games after probably playing more games this season then they ever have before

    Nice...

So, it was somewhat of a surprise that Briere - who suffered an upper-back contusion on April 1 - was back on the ice with his teammates on Monday in their first preparation practice for Pittsburgh.

Defenseman Nick Grossmann, who was also on the ice, was expected to be back for Game 1 the entire time.

Briere skated as normal, on a line with Brayden Schenn and Jakub Voracek, not wearing any sort of special non-contact jersey. Matt Read also subbed in on that line at one point - although Wayne Simmonds was not used there.

To get back a proven playoff performer who has put up 96 points in 97 games, that has to be a welcomed sign for coach Peter Laviolette. It’s just Monday, with another practice to go until Wednesday’s Game 1, but all signs point to Briere being ready to play.

Briere collected 9 points in his last 5 games before the injury.

Let the bloodbath begin in 10 hours!

was watching tsn yesterday for their playoff special and it was quite funny that Bob Mackenzie was picking the pens to win the cup but in the next second says that he is not confident that they will beat the flyers.
