Sounds like Schenn impressed at this rookie camp. Keep reading good things about this gustaffson kid too. I also read that if the flyers don't land stamkos (which isn't likely) that they have a deal with chris drury worked out and he will be signed. I used to like drury a lot...great character guy and penalty killer. I don't know how much he's got left at this point in his career.

It was not very surprising that the Flyers' summer development camp ended with center Brayden Schenn flourishing. Schenn, who turns 20 next month, was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in the trade for Mike Richards.

During Monday's intersquad scrimmage at the Skate Zone in Voorhees that concluded the camp, Schenn had three goals and one assist as his team won, 6-3. Schenn, who played a total of nine games during the last two seasons with the Kings, kept his hat trick on Monday well in perspective.

Flyers at the shore Flyers prospect camp 2010-2011 Flyers fights "Anybody likes to score goals, but at the same time it is July," he said. "It is just a start, and I am trying to prove myself and earn a roster spot this year."

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said he was impressed with the physical strength of Schenn.

"He is a bull on the puck," Holmgren said. "He is strong on the puck and makes good plays."

    Grading the players
Besides Schenn, Holmgren praised five players who spent time with the AHL's Adirondack Phantoms last season for their work last week at camp.

The five were defenseman Erik Gustafsson, 22 and forwards Mike Testwuide, 24, Ben Holmstrom, 24, Matt Read, 25, and Zac Rinaldo, 22. Gustafsson and Holmstrom appeared in three and two games, respectively, in the regular season for the Flyers. Rinaldo made two playoff appearances for the Flyers.

    freakin penguins

Lot of speculation that shelly could get cut and sesito could take over the enforcer role.

This guy's blog is pretty good. This dude Rinaldo seems like a maniac. Sesito looks enormous in this fight

I'm heading to vegas in september..all guy trip...dangerous....

Should I put some coin down on the boys ?

I read Meltzer all the time he's pretty good

I think Rinaldo fits into the Downie category. Play under control and he can be good but he's always gonna be on the edge of a dumb penalty or suspension. I wouldnt mind seeing Shelley go he's pretty much a waste.

maybe they aren't quite out of whack as i though..current highest odds in the NFL is only 125/1

maybe baseball has the 500/1 odds or maybe the nfl will once we know what's going on.

stamkos back with TB. 5 years, 37.5 mill, which seems low to me. that was fun while it lasted

drury should be signing any day now

Dry Island  . I'm definitely using that the next time I decide to not drink

The hard-partying ways of Flyers captain Mike Richards and center Jeff Carter played a major role in the organization's decision to trade both players in June, say two Flyers who played with the pair last season.

Carter was sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets for free agent forward Jakub Voracek and first- and third-round picks in the draft, and Richards was traded to the Los Angeles Kings for Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn.

The two unnamed players said that the Flyers front office was disappointed in Carter and Richards' longstanding party lifestyle and that teammates were concerned about the pair's drinking.

Shortly after his arrival in December 2009, coach Peter Laviolette instituted what players came to call the "Dry Island." Laviolette asked team members to commit to not drinking for a month, and each player was asked to write his number on a locker room board as a pledge. No. 17 (Carter) and No. 18 (Richards) were absent from the board on the first Dry Island, as well as the estimated five more times the policy was instituted.

In a phone interview Thursday, Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren confirmed that Richards and Carter hadn't put their numbers on the board, but said there had been others who declined. "We carry 23 players and there wasn't 23 numbers up there."

Holmgren was "really upset that this is out there. That's our locker room. Our inner sanctum. Our board. Someone's crossing a line here," in discussing the Dry Island.

Holmgren also said it was "preposterous" that partying was factored into the decision to trade Richards and Carter. "As far as Mike and Jeff are concerned, we made two good hockey trades that will better suit us now and for the future. Columbus is happy, L.A. is happy and the Flyers are happy with the deal."

Carter's agent, Rick Curran, told us it was "bull----" to suggest that the two were traded because of their partying. "You're telling me a number of accusations [that] they are out partying and not focused on hockey. For someone to suggest that behind doors without having the balls to come out publicly, consider it for what it is," Curran told us.

Richards' agent, Don Meehan, did not return repeated requests for comment; Carter and Richards did not respond to voice mails on their cell- phones or text messages.

i don't see them any further away. they still have a ton of talent up front, a top flight blue line, and by most accounts a top end goalie.

yup last night's was terrible. there are so many ridiculous premises and story lines anymore. only 7 more to go though. at least Curb Your Enthusiasm is still hilarious. last night's episode for Curb was awesome.
