Yeah, isn't the cap going to be nearly 5 mil higher this year, which is about what he's looking for?

the cap is going up 4.6 million. still don't see anyone trying to get versteeg and his contract. i am still hoping for a carter trade for a top 10 draft pick

I sure hope its not a 7 year deal....4 max...3 preferred. These superlong term deals come with too much risk....or you end up wasting money and spots in the minors

Chicago's are pretty good at breaking news. The broke the cutler deal. However, you can only listen for 30 minutes max before getting a repeat on every topic

    sounds like it is happening

looks to be a solid deal assuming they can sign the guy coming back.

yup great to give up the 7th leading goal scorer (36 goals this year) in the league for a guy with a whopping 14 goals in 80 games and a total of 39 in 3 years in NHL and two draft picks that at best won't see the light of day for at least 3 years. Fixer loves this one i'm sure but i hope Homer can explain where he sees the extra 22 goals and 34 points that you just gave up coming from next year.

without reading the specifics and not knowing the free agent class, i'd guess this is a cap move?

JVR is growing up before our eyes
Richards production wasn't what i thought it could be.
    Claude continues to improve.

i'll take my chances on 22 fewer goals from Offense, if we can assume the goalie can knock 40+ goals off last years given up total

well mike richards' lack of production is now someone else's problem and that someone would be the LA Kings.

    wow

what the fuck is homer doing? holy shit they were one of the best teams in the conference after a stanley cup finals run and you trade 2 of your mainstays and still fairly young players? wtf?????? not a huge fan of richards per se but you don't trade him and carter for ok players and draft pics. i don't get it. jeez i'm baffled by this organization. they change their plan year to year.

I don't know if it's that bad. The Flyers no longer have a 12-year contract on the books that will take Richards until he's around 35. Plus you have prospects and the coveted cap room.
